So I acquired a fully populated original sexy girl playfield. Already had a cpr backglass. So I decided to make this project. I have a crappy playboy that is already being repaired and prepped for its new journey.

So I've been sanding filling. Sanding again. Reglued the front panel. Had to take out wood nails and glue the top board of the head. Getting good prepping for its new paint job.

so the cabinet is going to be painted, high metallic Candy apple red. So it needs leveler, then primer, then high metallic silver. Then the candy coat, then clear. Then stencils, and more clear. Auto paint is super expensive. Every layer is $100's. Just bought 1 qt of the candy red, and it was $300. but i think it's going to turn out phenomenal.

#5 49 days ago

Following can’t wait to see that candy apple red cab you are talking about sounds like it will be epic.

#6 49 days ago

Sounds like it's going to look awesome. I'm going to follow too. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Difficult to see the thread title and not have flashbacks to 1985...

So, that explains why I could not find any Playboy cabinet for sale. They are all converted to Sexy Girls !!!!

Well, I took a Mata Hari and turned it into a Playboy.

I am glad you do have the backglass already, because CPR is no longer producing it with the score openings. I will be following your project.

first layer of primer is on. Have to do more glazing, filling, and more layers of primer. Has to be flawless when the metallic silver hits, or the silver will show every flaw with a 5X multiplier.

Following.

Quoted from CaptainNeo:

i'll be spraying the head tonight.

I feel like "spraying the head" when working on a Sexy Girl isn't exactly what I think it is. I will open your spraying the head pics with one eye open.

#19 41 days ago

Head came out nice. I have to redo the cabinet sides. Didn't thin out my silver or candy enough. Got it down now.

When I saw the title to this thread, I expected that you were getting one of those sex robots.

Well fawk me running. This cabinet has done this to me 4 times now. Tried sanding it. Did it again. Tried a thick clearcoat layer in between. Did it again. Tried different silver did it again. Head came out great. Front of the cab came out great. Sides . Not so much. About to reprime over this shit that has been hardcore sanded again.

#27 37 days ago

Was told to try thin layers with 15 min between layers. Instead of 2 thicker layers. Shit did it to me again.

#28 37 days ago

Wtf! Sorry to hear this all that work for nothing that sucks!

#29 37 days ago

Primed again. Let flash time sit. Tried first layer of silver. No reducer this time. Maybe it will let me this time. Waiting 15 min between layers again.

Finally doing the first color for the stencils. So far the main cabinet has been giving me problems. Had to recut stencils 5 times. Mainly because it's such a big piece I think I need 2 people

second layer will be silver, and have detail for the girls outlines. I was going to go with white at first, but i'm really worried the white will stand out too much when looking at the cabinet.

Impressive project

I was going to say sexy, but ok, impressive will work too.

#37 7 days ago

Love the stencils. Any chance you'll be cutting more sets for sale?

#38 7 days ago

maybe. I need to figure out the perfect amount of material to use, because right now, the vinyl i'm using has too high of tac and it's creating problems. and i'm having major issues aligning the second color, since I don't have guide markers.

#39 7 days ago

So the second color turned out to be a disaster. Couldn't get the sizes right because of it being a vector image, and doesn't use file edges for size. Then when I figured that out. Alignment was a nightmare because I don't use registration marks. This has to be redone. The silver turned out nice. With some pearl in it.

When you get it dialed in, its going to look awesome.

#41 7 days ago

plus I just found out I have some low tac, semi transparent vinyl for stencils. So this might go easier now.

#42 6 days ago

If you put circles in the corners of your vector images (Put them in the corners so you are only showing a quarter of the circle on all layers ) the layers will then remain sized correctly When moving to the cutter.

#43 5 days ago

So I finally got the head alignment correct. Found a semi transparent roll of stencil vinyl. Made alignment much easier. Turned out nice.

#44 5 days ago

Also for the coin door section done. Well almost. I have a little touchup spots to fix , but then it's done

IMG_20200912_202433846 (resized).jpgIMG_20200912_202446396 (resized).jpgIMG_20200912_202506615 (resized).jpg
#45 4 days ago

Cabinet turned out good. Tough to do alignment with such a big stencil.

IMG_20200914_164857542 (resized).jpg
#46 2 days ago

Head has both sides done. Cabinet has both sides stenciled but have to clear the other side yet. Then should be ready for setting up.

Super sexy! Dont you have to cut a speaker hole further back in the bottom panel to make room for the projector?

#50 7 hours ago

first things first. I want to get it up and running and playing good first. Then I can modify as needed.
