For my fiancée Veronika. She has not seen most of the movies we have seen.

(She immigrated here in 1990 but was behind the iron curtain, a lot.)

So, a double feature is in order. I am thinking animal house and porkies.

If you had never seen those two. I want to see them both again.

Really good comedies are out there, like life aquatic.

But I think it's time for animal house.

I would probably include ghostbusters, but I know she has seen that.

Don’t expect her to fall in love with these movies at first viewing - her sense of humour may be VERY different coming from Germany, although it sounds like she’s been here quite a while. I’d tend toward the more absurd comedies

    Office Space

Ha good 'Merican tale right there! I'd actually be really interested to see if it translates to a notoriously industrious people.

If she was behind the Iron Curtain I would go with Rocky IV...I mean it might be a comedy to them.

    Play It Again, Sam

    Blazing Saddles

Since it's Christmas time I would pick Home Alone and Trains, planes, and Automobiles.
    2 funny flicks.

    Blazing Saddles & Mrs. Doubtfire?

    #14 6 years ago

Yes, Home Alone and Blazing Saddles!.....you're all set!

Comedy is very subjective. Very. I can't see how half of these movies would translate well to someone born in Germany. I would ask her what she considers a funny movie and find something similar. Porkies? Jesus Christ...

    Bachelor Party
    Caddyshack

Im sure im in the minority here but I tried re watching several of the movies mentioned here and they did not hold up well...
porkies.. ugh.. revenge of the nerds...nope
Classics like spaceballs dont translate well unless she is familiar with star wars and parody

    #23 6 years ago

    The Exorcist
    Straw Dogs?

    #24 6 years ago

A Christmas Story and Elf given the season.

    Raising Arizona and the Jerk

Yet Fletch is still fucking awesome. True quality endures.

She loves the 40 year old virgin like me.

She saw the Rocky with "Russia"

She actually had me watch a movie she like called the last American virgin. Which is from the 80s, never had seen it.

When I saw animal house at the theater. The double feature was the gong show movie.

I was pretty young, too young to be in an R rated movie. Just a little too young. Perfect.

She likes spy's like us. It has been a while.

I dont think she ever saw red dawn.

Not a comedy but when I was describing the plot I had trouble not laughing.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The movies I have never seen that were suggested. I am going to watch these.

Go completely different: Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Galaxy Quest.

Sounds like you may have already made your choices. If not, Groundhog Day might be one she would enjoy.

These are more recent, but if she hasn’t seen them - Bridesmaids and Superbad.

    #31 6 years ago

Groundhog Day is one of my favorite films! Great choice!

    #32 6 years ago

If she liked spies like us, she will love top secret. It’s a 1990s spy film spoof.

My vote would be Throw Mamma From The Train and Mrs. Doubtfire.
