Looked over the amazing transformation/work that Wally put in to his
MM clone, and have wondered myself, is this possible with patience?
(for me)

There are three big snags and possibly a fourth

One: The wiring harness. While not impossible when using the NBAFB
harness, it will take heavy modification.

Two: The playfield ball guides. I was looking over my high speed/es
spares and thought hmm...these look bendable or easy to cut...

Three: The mechanics, both upper and lower. Can a lot of the critical
parts still be found.

Four: the cost.

The reason I'm thinking of it in the first place is because the price
as of late has shot to the moon. So IF finding all the parts or most
of the important stuff is possible, $7,000 project doesn't seem so bad
for all new pinball if the patience is there.

I'm doing more research on it, can't say if I will or won't, but i'm
tempted.
If anyone want's to help me with figuring out the wiring harness/to
make one, i'm all ears. I'm also open for thoughts on it.

p.s, My hats off to Wally- One of the coolest projects I've seen.

Thanks, James

I just cant see how its worth the time, effort & money needed to take this on unless your retired & extremely bored. Would seem impossible without having a MM to reference like Wally did.

Good luck though.

Talk to Wally about the expense - I'm sure he can give you some ideas on what everything cost.

You could call Jim Shird and ask him what a new harness would cost, he could fabricate a new one.

Jim's Website:

It's under construction, but contact him using his form, and he will respond.

From what I understand, Wally had an original MM to use as a reference. I think it would be next to impossible to do it without that, unless someone else did first and wrote a *very* detailed guide.

Quoted from shacklersrevenge:

One: The wiring harness. While not impossible when using the NBAFB
harness, it will take heavy modification.

Are there nonstandard connectors? If it's all standard Molex or IDC, couldn't you just buy the plugs and some spools of appropriately sized wire, and make the harnesses yourself from scratch. It might take forever, but the harnesses *are* just wire and plugs... nothing magical about 'em.

Quoted from shacklersrevenge:

Two: The playfield ball guides. I was looking over my High Speed/es
spares and thought hmm...these look bendable or easy to cut...

I wonder if a CNC wire bender would work for this, or if the >1" height is prohibitive?

Speaker panels are hard to find too. I have a nos mm translite.

Hi James, I still believe that anyone with some basic skills, time and patience could do the same thing that I did. This was my first complete pinball restoration ( I have in the past enjoyed working on cars or for that matter anything mechanical or electrical ). I'm just a phone call away from answering any of your questions and am available to talk you though things if you run into any problems. I'm more than willing to help out anyway that I can. Too bad you don't live any closer.
It was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable projects that I have ever worked on but I fully understand that it might not be for everyone. I have always looked forward to a good challenge and this was a challenge. Wally

Nice work Wally, quite amazing, I can only imagine how rewarding it is to play that machine.

Wally's accomplishment is one of the coolest things I have seen in pinball.
