People say it because they are politely telling you not to lowball them.

    Two options
1- "Don't waste my time with a lowball offer"
2- "I really hate to part with this game"

Some people may prefer #1 but most people see that as someone being needlessly gruff and communicates that they may be tough to deal with.

If they ever make a "Grumpy Old Men 3" they should raid this forum for source material.

People ask questions when they are making a decent-sized purchase. I never ask a gumball machine "why are you selling the gumballs" but you can bet I will ask it if someone trying to sell me a used car. I don't care about the why... but I want to see if they are nervous... do they have a story... are they trying to pass off a lemon onto me?

    Quoted from Time:

Why has no one created a for sale ad yet with all of these phrases listed?

    Now that would be funny

    Quoted from cottonm4:

What components need to be changed to convert a U.S./ Canadian pin to be Australian compliant?
What is this Hz conversion board?
What are the ballasts that need changed?
    Varistor I understand.
Thermistor. I have a rudimentary understanding but that's all.
I have no need for such a swap. I'm just interested in knowing more.
    Thanks.

I totally agree! That was such an interesting answer!
