Good morning Pinside,

I’m looking to get an idea of what to ask for my player/project TZ.

The bad:
- Board is out for repair due to the “reset” issue commonly found with this game. It’s in the hands of Alan Davidson, so it will be as good as new by the time I officially sell.
- The DMD is on it’s last legs and should be replaced.
- Some inserts have lifted, and one taken off entirely (Lock Ball 1).
- Cab decals need replacing for sure. A replacement set will be included in the sale.
- Magnets need to be leveled. Not a big deal, but worth noting.
- Some broken plastics.
- Dings and dents all around. Nothing terrible, but this game was enjoyed over the years for sure.

The good:
- No switch/gameplay errors. Even with the above issues, I’ve managed to reach LITZ, and I’m not a particularly strong player.
- Both scoops look to be in great shape. Not blown out by any stretch.

I’m ultimately looking to free up some cash for another home purchase, and while I’m not in a “fire-sale” position, I also don’t need to hold out for top dollar.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a new way of getting offers without having to list the game here and pay commission?

#3 6 years ago

$3000

I sold a game this week on here, paid the commission, and donated to get my heart+ icon. I AWAYS donate to Pinside after a sale, so no worries there.

My last sale was a HUO Met Pro. Super easy game to price-out, and I sold it for below market. A TZ in this condition is far harder to price, hence the thread.

Yikes! Really? If that’s the case, I might as well turn it into a coffee table.

Earlier build TZ with original white clock face and green lock insert right?

This is a good guy, good seller here.

OP, If that were mine, I'd probably put a price tag on it of $4500, and settle anywhere between 4K-4500.
It does have some wear and tear, and minor issues, but it's a TZ. If I wasn't about to grab two pins, I'd already be trying to buy this from you.
GL! You won't need it though.

The clockface was in the game when I originally purchased it, but I can’t say whether or not it’s original or a replacement. Would the serial number give me a better idea of build date?

Fantastic. That’s more along my line of thinking (hoping). In that range I feel like I’d be passing along a deal without losing my shirt.

Do you think it’s worth replacing the DMD prior to sale? I have no desire to tackle the decals as I’m spread too thin on time as-is, but I’m fine taking on some of the easy stuff if it would expedite a sale.

Yea the month/day of build would help determine if the white clock face was original to it. If it has the Green lock insert that would be the bigger tell if it’s an earlier production run or not.

But as for value, somewhere in that 4200ish range +/-

It's a later-run sample, or really early production run. Normal ramp colors, green LOCK insert. Can't see any other part of the playfield to note.

Looks like it has production back box decals so best bet is an early prod run

I’ve attached a pic of the SN and I also snapped a pic of two inserts that always struck me as odd. My last TZ didn’t have either, but I assumed they were crumby placeholders.

Looks like it has the extra post by the pop bumpers found in early production games too.

I would think there wouldn’t be much of a difference between pricing, but it’s been interesting to note.

Wow, I almost want to buy it. I have spare DMDs, and with TZ repro PFs available, it would be worth it.

#14 6 years ago

Reimport, so not super surprising they cut the lettering off Lock. European operators do weird stuff with pin "repair".

The post isn’t a guarantee - that didn’t go on all games believe it or not. The May manufacturing date means it’s an early enough production run that they still used the original play field art, but the back box had already been redesigned . Interesting! TZ were apparently built with all different combos of prototype and production parts until they ran out

That would be a shame, the PF is the original prototype art, you’d want to restore that not replace it

Not completely. Different ramp insert border colors. Probably (?) missing third magnet core art. This PF is pretty exact to what Mirco has in stock. So, nothing really lost there.

Now, if it had the scraped off, decalled 'Spira' insert, and the green rocket border in front of the main ramp, then yeah.

Interesting replacement Slot machine plastic, too.
