I've been working with a friend of mine to build a new niche review site, MovieSlap.com. Our niche is that we look for great, more obscure movies. In addition, our reviews are more conversational (our tagline is "quick- hitting movie talk"). If you want to read a synopsis of a movie, there are a million other sites to choose from.
