I'm parting out a Sega game with a shaker motor and was wondering if the motor/driver board will work in a Data East system 3 game (Jurassic Park, Tales from the Crypt, etc). I see replacement shaker boards that will work with Data East/Sega/Stern games so I'm guessing the parts are interchangeable?

I believe the are all the same from data east through stern. I've alway put stern motors into these various machines without thought.

#3 10 years ago

that's interesting, it doesn't affect the machine in anyway?

It seems the Sega ones are a bit more powerful than the ones used in Data East games. Is it the same motor?

Maybe you've never seen one that's newer in the data east? You can look up part numbers in the manuals but I bet its all the same

I pulled one from a Sega LWJP and stuck it in a WWF with no problems, for what its worth

Quoted from Crash:

Same motor used for all the shakers.

Easy to check pinouts, I believe they are.

Stern and data east use the exact same board; Sega is probably the same too.

Hello. I have a Data East Shaker with Shaker-Board (from WWFRR). Is it possible to use this in my Metallica Pro (plug&play), or do i have to make some modifications?

Yes, you can use the DE board in your Stern.

J2 pins 2 & 3 go to the motor

J1 -- pin 2 goes to the red/white wire in 2-pin female connector near coin door.
J1 -- pin 6 goes to the brown/gry wire in the 3-pin female connector laying in back of cabinet.
