The first thing to do is remove those batteries and install NVRAM. That board is tough to replace. The newer board will not render sounds correctly.
There is little that you can do after replacing ROMs. Hate to say it but this is a job for a pro.

Yes. All sound comes from the CPU/Sound board.
It's going to take a pro to figure it out.
