Hello all,

Could you please help me with our MSF display? It is very strange that all dots are working during the test but there are some situations when it works bad (it is still same again and again). Here are the test and ingame videos:

Is there please some possibility to repair it? I have already put it to our BW using BW board (with the roms) and cables and it works same as in MSF.

Thank you for the help!

Here are the videos of the second BW display. Could you please also look at it?

have you swapped out your ribbon cable? Was it working before?

I have two pins / displays - MSF and BW. I have swapped them together and both are working same in both machines. Do you please mean the big ribbon or the smaller which is used to connect the display and the display board?

I have already bought MSF with this problem. BW worked well only when you turned it on. After 1 - 1,5 hour of playing it started to make bug as you can see below. BW has this problem from the start now.

big ribbon, so they both do the same thing in both machines? did you swap display driver boards with each display?

Yes it makes the same mistakes in both machines. I have always used the board of the original display. So I used MSF display connected to BW display board and machine and BW display connected to MSF display board and machine. I did not want to replace the ROMs.

Btw I can try to make a new ribbon cable to exclude cable problem.

This is not a ribbon cable issue. First display you showed is outgassed. The display glass will have to be removed from the panel PCB and replaced. I highly doubt Vishay will be willing to do this. If they do it will probably cost you over $200. Second one, if it happens over time then likely you have some solder points failing under heat stress on the display PCB. Vishay will probably fix this. Someone mentioned a name and contact number a couple of years ago but I can't find the thread.

Honestly I would just convert to DMD Extender, it will cost about the same (a lot less if Vishay will not repair these) and you get customizable colors.

I think crash is right and your display is outgassing but you should take a look at this post about sega displays and a new wiring harness that is available: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/batman-forever-dmd-not-working-where-to-start#post-2845196 Also, somebody posted recently that pinballife has the displays in stock for $499. Not sure if they still have them though.

That harness is for logic related dropouts, this is outgassing of the display panel.
