Recently the left flipper on my GE is staying energized occasionally even after the button is released. Sometimes another tap of the flipper button will drop it back down, sometimes it wont. It does not appear to be mechanical. I believe something on the board is causing it to stay energized. While energized I can pull the plug on the board and the flipper drops. Something in the 8 volt driver circuit? Thanks for any help.

Quoted from LTG:

I'd suspect something shorting the switch on the flipper button.

There is a component soldered on the switch parallel with the wires. Diode?

Thanks LTG, I will check that this weekend.

After reading this service bulletin, I replaced damping diode with one from an old coil I had laying around. The left flipper worked correctly for the first game after replacement. Will play some more tonight and see how it goes. Flippers were rebuilt , including new coils about a year ago.[attachment=0,undefined caption="sb58.pdf"]

Machine has had a few plays on it now without an issue. Attachment didn't load properly but it is DE/Sega service bulletin #58.
