I need a little help regarding GI lamps on a Sega Star Wars Trilogy.
The lower right GI lamps keep blowing fuses. Not immediately but after several hours of play. I cannot find anything wrong. Replaced the lamps with LEDs and inspected all the sockets. I did solder in a spotlight to one of the sockets (see photo).
I also noticed the Sega games from ’97 do not have diodes at the lamp sockets. Seems like only that year? Not sure why?
Could any of this be related?
    Thanks for the guidance.

    Quoted from Torre:

GI lamp sockets don't require a diode.
In fact, they are powered by AC voltage. A diode would "halve" the effective power.

Nothing wrong with the lamp that you added. It's not the cause, unless the new socket is shorted.

These are tough to track down.
About all you can do is take lamp sockets (not just bulbs) out of the circuit until the behavior ceases.

    Thanks Chris. That helps.
I figured this would be a long investigation to find out the culprit.
I'll start with the easy and work my way up to the more challenging.
    Thanks again.
