So I have another Sega MS Frankenstein here with a rather odd issue. The game plays just fine except it thinks you're constantly holding the left flipper button.
The flippers work just fine. Even though this game does not have lane change, the flippers are used for entering initials, music select at the start if a game and accessing the info screen.

Hence, the Info screen pops up quite often during game play. You cant select the left music option. And initial entry scrolls left

Game diagnostics shows an error with the left flipper EOS. Switch is clean. Checks good for continuity, I've metered the wires down to the flipper board. They check good. Flipper board itself is rather nice. No hacks.
I'm a bit lost on this. I dont have another Sega game handy to swap flipper boards.

Ideas??
Thx.

Thanks for the suggestions. The EOS switches are normally closed. The flipper action causes them to open.
Its acting like its always open. I metered the blades of the EOS. They have continuity when closed.

I believe the cab switches are ok since the flippers work as advertised.

Quoted from pinmike:

Ok I just took a look at your flipper board and the CN2 holding the one for male header pins. The back side of that board for that connector(12 pin) looks like there’s been some work done there and might need some work like reflow of fresh solder or could be a bad trace(Look at the first pin) looks like a bit of burnt

I see what you're saying. I'll take a look at the and test the traces.

Quoted from LTG:

Do they have continuity when open ?
LTG : )

No, when I open the switch. I lose continuity between the blades. I checked back at the wire solder connection.

Quoted from zaza:

Could be a failing transistor on the flipper board.
Compare Q5 with Q7.
Or pull WHT-VIO wire from connector CN1-5 and test the switches again in menu.

Thank you. Will check that now

@zaza. Good call! Q7 is shorted. I see that is in the EOS circuitry.
Reads dead short between all legs. Now to find something comparable to put in there.

Quoted from zaza:

Great !
It is a 2N3904.

I'm not sure but a 2N4401 might work here.

Thanks! I had 50 or more 2N3904 in stock.
Works perfectly now!
Problem solved!
