    Quoted from ZNET:

I think that Bally World Cup Soccer gets overlooked because of its poor aesthetics. Never played Sega Soccer. Love the graphics. Saw Mickey's video.
My most recent Sega acquisition is Lunar Rescue, which is partially working but requires restoration.

I think World Cup is really cool. I bought three of them from a video game guy about 12 years ago. They are a blast. I think Sega Soccer gets the gameplay edge though because you can play it with one hand. You could still hold your beer and play. With World Cup you feel like you need more hands than you have. I guess that can be part of the fun though. And yes the fake woodgrain cab isn't the most attractive but I would have been happy with it before discovering this game.

Lunar Rescue? That sound interesting? Not familiar with most of these as they seem so uncommon.

Here's 3 photos of my 1973 Sega Lunar Rescue. Sega's Attack is the same game, with different graphics. John Torrence has a video of his Lunar Rescue on YouTube, the one that sold at his recent Morphy's auction.

I love the Lunar Rescue art package. Nevertheless, the lunar vehicle reminds me of the Oscar Meyer wienermobile.
Did not realize that hot dogs were popular on the moon.

Missile holds the "most affordable Sega EM arcade" title, I suspect. While it's not particularly innovative, like some of Sega's other games of the era, Missile is both fun and good looking.

The front cabinet molding shows up damaged on 95% of this title. Also, the front doors are often ill-fitting and the backglass is prone to degradation.

This example appears to be in above average condition. There was one at Pinfest 2018 earlier this month (for only $600, as I recall) in average shape.

Most Sega EM arcades had their own formica-like cabinet. Missile has that fairly robust surface. In contrast, Lunar Rescue has a painted cabinet. That is why the Lunar Rescues which turn up all seem to have peeled and faded paint. My Lunar Rescue has a repainted cabinet. . .deep blue instead of the original sky blue. Actually, the deep blue makes more sense since the depicted planets would not be ensconced in a light blue atmosphere. Alas, I plan to repaint it to the original sky blue, even though it's artistic nonsense.

    Quoted from ZNET:

The 1966 Sega Basketball restoration is nearly complete. While cleaning the game, I noticed that the etched graphic, on the stainless steel control panels, depicts Philadelphia 76er, Billy Cunningham (jersey #32). Japan-based Sega certainly did its research inasmuch as Cunningham was a premier player back in the day. As a resident of southern NJ, the representation of my local team only adds to my appreciation of this game.
The former game owner must have had a problem replacing the relay switches under the baskets because he created a manual scoring mechanism by soldering buttons (shown in post 16 above) to the wires and feeding same through holes he cut into the dome on each side. Blasphemy! That's likely what caused the needless spider crack damage to the dome at both ends. In any event, I was able to remove the dried and hardened electrical tape residue and also eliminate the substantial fogginess in the canopy. I will install the correct relays under the baskets once I locate suitable brackets.
Also, I still need to fabricate lexan backboards for each side. Fortunately, the 2 broken ones which came with the game are complete enough for me to create a template to do so. Other tasks include adding the red #1 sticker to the playfield, replace a missing carriage bolt and minor cabinet touch up. After experimenting with several types of balls, I found one which functions well (and also resembles a real basketball, as depicted below). Now that the game has been polished, I can see that the game's cabinet and playfield condition are actually much better than originally anticipated.
Common deficiencies with Sega Basketball games include fractured domes, broken backboards, chipped baskets, corroded button bezels, lifting/damaged/faded formica, misshapen or incorrectly repainted coin door, missing "Sega" serial number plate, missing maintenance prop, missing/damaged numerical stickers, missing coin box, missing ball.

Hey there, I just bought a Sega Basketball games! It's in Excellent condition, But I was wondering where did you get your replacement ball?

    Quoted from Darkfader:

Hey there, I just bought a Sega Basketball games! It's in Excellent condition, But I was wondering where did you get your replacement ball?

I searched high and low for the perfect replacement ball. I bought keychain fob basketballs and other similarly-sized basketballs on eBay, 5 And Under stores, Dollar stores and the like. A couple dozen purchases yielded the perfect ball. Alas, I can't identify the vendor.

The ball had a malleable rubber exterior and a hollow interior. . .smaller and heavier than a ping pong ball. I had a secondary ball which also worked. That one was hard plastic and fairly solid. However, it was probably prone to damaging the playing surface and scratching the underside of the dome.

I recommend buying a variety of keychain fobs. Congratulations on acquiring a Sega Basketball!

Hey thanks! ZNET, that's good info to go off of, you have any websites that sell extra parts for these? Only place I found was flippers.com in Canada that has some parts, Im looking for 2 red buttons for the player 2 side. I just bought a coil from them yesterday, I bought the game at the Texas pinball festival, on Saturday night, the player 2 scoring coil melted. I happened to have a gottleib coil that was close and now everything works as it should. But it would be good to know some other sources to buy extra parts for the game in the future.

What do we all think the value of Sega combat is?

Last month, I finished repainting my Sega Lunar Rescue's cabinet, as shown here. Ten months ago, a few posts above, I posted photos of this game prior to the repaint. A prior owner had utilized a blue which was considerably darker than the original.

Also, the previous graphics were sloppy. I matched the lighter blue hue as best as possible, utilizing the game's flyer and other references. I powder-coated the external coin box and the legs, consistent with the game's original colors. Some mechanical tweaks are still needed.

I tucked Sega Lunar Rescue in the back of my gameroom, next to the hot water heater. The heater is intentionally obscured by a vintage Tom's candy machine.

I figure that the lunar surface is remote so why not put the game in the darkest spot on the floor?

I’ve been in the pinball hobby for over 20 years, but it’s not been until just recently that I discovered the beauty and intrigue of the classic Sega EM arcade games. I recently bought my first - the elusive Killer Shark - and it has really turned me onto these marvels. This thread on Pinside is fascinating! Man, these games were so ahead of their time!

Stay tuned for the documentary film: Welcome to Arcadia. In it, I narrate a segment on Sega's EM arcade contribution in the industry. Release date likely in 2020 or 2021.

Is there any information on how to repair/restore chipped sections of the "decola"? on these Sega EM cabs? I have a Night Rider with a few sections of damage, nothing major, but when i get around to doing some restore work done i'd like to address this also.

We used to see the Soccer version a lot out west but it was too confusing for players to understand.

I thought someone like ICE Games or Bromley even remade it recently as a redemption game?
Edit: I guess SEGA themselves kind of remade a contemporary version:

I will be buying this machine back for the second time from the second person I sold it to.Originally I sold this to my attorney friend that had it for 20+years and the current owner has had it for about 5.Strange how some machines come back to you multiple times.

My 1974 Cowboy and 1973 Lunar Rescue are both for sale. Both games function well. A few photos are posted here.

I am in southern New Jersey (zip code 08043), near Philadelphia. I recommend Bob Cunningham for delivery, both domestic and international.

Sega Cowboy was new-in-crate until I fired her up about 3 years ago. The game is nearly flawless. . .cabinet, console and backglass. The holographic arm, lasso and steer are all exceptionally bright.

Sega Lunar Rescue was a restoration project which took many months to complete. Lunar Rescue features powder-coated legs and a powder-coated external coin box.

The original acrylic backglass is in excellent condition, with vivid colors. The playfield and control panel are in great shape. The backglass light is new. The lunar rescue vehicle is original and unmodified (which is rare). The beautifully repainted cabinet (original graphics) has been sealed. The original sound board is fully functional.

Video demos of gameplay are available for both games. Likewise, more photos are available. A Pinside donation will be made attendant to a sale of either of these scarcely-seen, fun Sega games.

Both games appear in the upcoming documentary film: Arcade Dreams. The film's trailer is at this link: https://arcadedocumentary.com/
