I have a Godzilla - love it! However! I hate how my flips are like buckets, they are super high angle when energized. I don't want them to be droopy when they are down, but I want to eliminate an easy cradle. Has anyone modified the flips on a Sega to eliminate this? Longer coil stop and/or longer plunger, and most likely adjust the EOS? I feel like a lot of Segas have a high angle at max flip.

I saw a post in the Vid Flipper Rebuild Guide from someone speaking my language on this topic, and from what I understand they used Williams mechs to address this.

After work I'm gonna walk over and take apart my flips and compare to some other mechs and see what I can do make the game a bit tougher. I saw this thread and thought I'd see if anyone feels the same way, or has done anything to this end.

Also! Does anyone have a Lost In Space they want to sell?

I'm in ... Would be nice to see whats going on in the Sega pinball world

Not enough damn color! That's what's up in the Sega world.

I am ordering an LED ColorDMD for GZA, just as soon as Randy gets back to me. I saw a sneak peek of the 'work in progress' list. I wasn't sober (good move on their part). No Godzilla, and I don't recall any Segas listed. Green will be fine until a full rom is produced. My fingers are crossed that we get some Sega love soon.

Thank you for the reminder to holler back at Randy.

I have had a ColorDMD in stock for GZA for a few months. The second I saw the news, I installed the display. It’s already better in green sigma mode. Tomorrow will be a colorful day at Monterey Flipper Pinball.

I totally didn’t come back on to explain what it took to achieve my goal. I have thought about it multiple times, just never snapped a photo after we got it dialed in.

So, after swapping plungers, plates, etc, ultimately I left the Sega Flipper mechs, and ended up bending this piece (the rubber grommeted coil stop, whatever that should actually be called) to achieve a shorter Flipper throw. This eliminated the high angle. I did naturally have to realign the flippers afterward.

After all that, we figured the game could stand to be a little more difficult, and put on some lightning flips.

I really appreciate the work we did on the game. It’s become a bit more challenging, and that’s a fine thing.

Later!

The colorization performed on Godzilla is really great.

ColrDMD FTW.
