Had a LIS for s week , then parted with her, diddnt rock my boat.
But man i freaking LOVE my Sega Baywatch!!!
Realy realy underrated game
Easely a top 20 pin!

LiS has a lot of potential in my opinion, but the code just doesn’t hold up. I really wished they would have added a wizard mode after completing all 3 multiballs, which is all of them combined, or something like that. Still a fun game with some great pop bumper action in my opinion.

Baywatch is fantastic. In my top 3 favorite Sega games. If the theme was anything else, it would be in my collection.

On our way home now with our first Sega! Super excited! I know sounds stupid but this is a one owner Harley Davidson that was put in the game room as a gift in 1999 from a HD exec and today was the first time the glass had been removed or playfield lifted! So little use it’s incredible. Once we get her home and set up I’ll post some photos

Any tips on Sega’s or this machine, even any mods or updates please let me know !

Got my first Sega!
Love my new (to me) Godzilla.
Found out something interesting. You can leave the balls in the trough when you raise the playfield all the way up against the backbox. They won't fall out. But if you turn the game on in that position, it will go into ball search and eject the balls - sending them flying wherever. Into the lower cabinet, smacking off the game right next, onto the floor, wherever.
I know that now.

You should be very happy, it looks to be in great shape!
When people talk about Sega games, this one doesn't get mentioned as often, and that's a shame, as its a very fun game. Congrats on finding one!

#365 4 years ago

Thank you! I was worried from some of the comments on the game play and of course the condition as I bid on it sight unseen, but it’s condition made it all worth the while! (And the long Drive!)

Cross-posting a question from the X-Files Club to Sega Club:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/thoughts-and-rules-to-x-files/page/15#post-5060582

The short version of my post above:

Anyone know the differences between X-Files EPROM versions as far as modes, game rules, bugs, etc?

Mine has V1.00 and I see that 3.03 is what's available...I can only find details on what was fixed in one particular version - 3.02 based on a Service Bulletin #105 which reduced the magnet by 50%.

Question for everyone. I have six 8 Sega machines or so, and every one seems to be having issues where it "looses" the balls. Lost in Space to Space Jam, they all seem to do it, some more than others. Is this the trough switches, optos, both or what? Any help? (and I am a novice in the repair area, fyi)

Thanks!

#373 4 years ago

I would suspect the through optos. They have to be just perfect. Try cleaning and adjusting them. Sometimes loosing some of the screws can help.

Awesome, understand life happens, lost my collection to arson yrs ago, just now getting back. I do have a set of nice boards if you need boards pm.an 13 ball MB, is nuts

#377 4 years ago

Typically it's the trough switches. I adjust mine a little on the high side so they always register. But some Sega games, like ID4, it can be the opto for the ball eject. The design for it is different than say X Files.

Every obscure machine has a damn "club" and a STAR WARS of all things has hardly any posts at all.
This happened the other day. Not my first pin, but it is certainly the first one I brought home and was able to play as soon as the legs were on!
Bought it from a good friend who needed to fund another pin purchase. This game is so fun! Lots of challenges, other than a faded 3D translight it is in fantastic shape!
The playfield, plastics and toys are all in great shape!

It has Mirrored Blades, the 3D translight I mentioned, the side rails have the button protectors and an upgraded sound system.
Very happy with it!

#380 4 years ago

I've always been a bit curious about transporting sega pins with the curved head. It looks like the head would rest against the glass and not the side rails like most pins, making it more likely the glass, translite, etc. would get damaged when being strapped together. I must be missing something though?

#381 4 years ago

They have (or should have) extendable arms on the back box that fold out and rest on the side rails to keep the backbox off the playfield.

"Should have" - Mine doesn't have those - I was told that sometimes operators would remove them. Mine were gone - we used a folded Captain Morgan box, it did the trick.

The brown side art was how they marketed the re-release in '97. Lucas added some effects and altered some scenes (HAN SHOT FIRST!). They released back into theatres and finally in a box set of VHS tapes. Remember, most of us had seen Star Wars in the theatres when we were very young! This was HUGE and it drummed up excitement because in a couple short years Episode 1 would come out. I love the game!

#385 4 years ago

I have one of these too. The 3D translite always looks "faded", at least every one I have seen does. Mine has a bunch of problems with the Tie drop targets not going down and the X-Wing not moving correctly. I have no real repair skills at all, but hoping to get friends to help. In fact, almost all 9 of my Segas currently have flipper issues or "lost ball" trough issues.

Hey Sega fans, I'm rebuilding a Jurassic Park Lost World and am missing the gate flap at the end of the shooter lane. I have the bracket that it mounts into which spans the two mounts. Can someone please check their machine and verify that the pictured part is what I am missing? A few pics of yours in place would be appreciated as well since I can't find any others. Thank you!

Restoring my coin door. I’m aware of the flat base/ gloss speckle pattern on Williams coin doors but both my BW and batman forever both have what looks like hammered paint finishes. Also the paint on my BF coin door was so thick it was almost like powder coat. These were all painted from the factory right?

Thanks,

#397 3 years ago

Am I the only one that thinks these modular plastic standup targets are complete crap? I'm referring to them in my The Lost World Jurassic Park . Other than being hard to find and expensive to replace, their feel and effect on gameplay are garbage. Firing the ball directly back as if it were a kickback with no damping at all, and they are all aimed at the flippers! Has anyone out there in Sega Showcase-land replaced them with more traditional standups? Thoughts?

Total crapTotal crap
