Have you ever built a special tool to make your fix easier ?

I saw this article to buy a board to replace the machine..ok it's for specialists (BD!)

Perhaps have you made only with lamps instead coils !?

Or a special connector to simulate the playfield?

Or just a special tool to reinstall the bulbs ??

Thanks for sharing your SECRETS !

You know there is a tool to adjust contacts in EMs
it still blows my mind that some people still use needle nose pliers

I did build something for working on my pins, and it was helpful. It is a simple lift that I salvaged all the wood for. The pallets that my pins were shipped on was all the wood and I bought wheels, hinges, and small bottle jack and a cheap outdoor doormat for the pad . I later bought some skates that I use more, but I still use my lift. I will take a few pics and post them if someone wants to copy ......I didn't say it was beautiful, but it works.

This is the test pcb that Pascal Janin designed. He is also the designer of the system 1 P1 replacement CPU and the P4 all in one. Also He has replacement sound PCBs for system 1 and 80 and I think He is doing a System 80 CPU as well.

His stuff is top notch and rock solid!

Yes , and this is the link to subscribe or to write to Pascal

I have built cordons with connector installed to check power supply bally outside from the machine, and this tool to load/unload.

I found a tool at Sears to be useful
one end has a small mirror and the other a magnet .
great if you drop a nut or screw under the PF plastics.

For all the old farts like me, I use a headband mounted magnifying glasses with a loop for the right eye. Really helps when I am soldering small connections under a playfield.

I also use a swing arm magnifying lamp for PCB bench work.

It sucks as you grow older and your eyesight is not what it used to be.

Also made a PCB holder out of those spring clamps available at HD , Lowes, etc.Use different sizes, ie 3", 4" 6", mounted to a scrap piece of wood. Bottom of the wood is no slip rubber backing. I clamp the PCB to the clamps and it stays steady in place.

As I use to do a lot of TV work back in the day and still do Stereo Receivers, amps, guitar amps and synths I built a box years ago with a Variac, Voltmeter, Ammeter, On/Off switch CB and a regular two postion outlet built into the box.
As I crank up the Variac I can monitor voltage and current draw. Very useful for gear that is blowing fuses upon turn on.
