for ball post spring I just used flipper return and cut down till enough tension . have just sent my spare cam to swinks to have 3ded copied .pinballspares aus has the cam listed . mousin around diverter has same cam mechanism and a drawing in manual showing washer position (handy)ensure right angled piece on ball post IS at 90 degree and pin that runs in cam is square to cam. just lent my spare cam to swinks to get 3d printed , or you could have it. thanks again. 3rd photo of mousin around diverter that uses same cam , but needs different spring than SS to operate . hope this helps, vance

Thanks This will help. Again I have most of what you said done or checked. My flat cam seems to be fine. Can you send me pic of the switch wire form that goes below the playfield? This is the wireform that I need to mock up. Also can you tell me if the ball has to keep both switches down for game to see it? I think that may be why the coil will not kick.

this one? kickbig wire same as outlane . ball runs over this releasing it then it contacts switch above playfield and holds it closed . in photo , the switch with red on it is outlane , on right is from kickbig. with the ball post I had to remove my right angled bracket that carries pin that runs in cam and bend it exactly 90 degrees, also I had a washer coil side of same 90 degree bracket. when I replaced it above bracket I could get cam to work correctly tension on spring is also very critical hope this helps . any thing else? , enjoy

I will try your suggestions and i may have to adjust the switch wire as it seems to catch either on the wood or the metal framework.

I got the switch under the white house working correctly. I had an outlane wire form and I also moved the entire assy over to clear the metal framework and the wood. Still am not able to make the up post work. I reworked all of it again but can't seem to get the cam to shift to the left. If I use a spring or no spring, it just will not slide enough to allow the pin to engage into the cam. I also checked the cam and it appears to be in good shape.
If I use my finger as a stop, I can get the cam to stay in a position that will allow it to both engage and disengage. Almost seems that Data East should have had a rubber stop or another spring to pull in the opposite direction. Just need to fix this and the game is done.

Mike</bloc if it wont move to left sounds like compression spring on top or groove in slot . pin must run on bottom of slot in cam (only just) to move left . 1st half of slot is angled , to get pin to centre of cam then spring at bottom takes over . I think that's how it works .

#107 5 years ago

Hey Mike and Vance,
Ive had similar issues with my up-post it seems to be pretty picky lol. one issue i had was the the 2 jam nuts were not holding the pin plate down tight allowing just enough play to not allow the pin to in gauge the slot. the other issue was dirt /dust build up on the spring and washers that hold the flat cam. after i fixed those issues it worked correctly Mike if you think the cam might be worn i'm in the process of recreating the flat cam since its unavailable i could send you one to test when i get the final version finished..

Guys
Thanks for the help.
Bruce I will try the nuts as I copied the Williams set-up thinking that might be why mine was not working correctly. I added the lock washers and then the flat washer, I will go back to just the flat washer and the 2 nuts. What you say makes sense now that I look at the pics from Vance and you. I am hoping to get the last detail done after I get this fixed and than I will show you the cool mod I designed for the game as well.

Looks Very nice! Did you turn your matchbox car around to hide the side that got hit by the ball all the time? I did on mine, but I have since changed it to a BMX boxer as the guy I am restoring the machine for has a Boxer. hehe

Mike,
I didn't turn the car around I just repainted it. Going to re-print the wording and make a waterslide decal to finish it up.

Question... is this game taller than the norm ? I have black texture coated looking legs on it & they are definitely longer than any of my other games

Quoted from TecumsehPlissken:

Mine are 28.5" i believe later DE games used a 30.5 leg that was chrome but not 100% on that

measured them & they are the 30 1/2" all my other games have 28 1/2" so these aren't correct then!? figures as the game was represented as undocumented HUO ha ha

Well My Secret Service game is done. Wifey did the testing and gave it a Thumbs UP!. Here are some pics and the mod to follow. Thanks everyone for your help with bringing this one back to life. Thanks to Bruce for the cad file on the cam.
You will notice that the capital is missing. It broke during testing, which is a good thing. Wife suggested making a clear bottom to put on first and then the capital. I am working on that and will post the design and results.

And here is the MOD. I think it turned out nice. Gives others something to look at besides game play. It's on a loop and goes on and off with the game. I opted for no sound. Did not want to take away from the game's music.

I'm late to the discussion but have had a Secret Service for many years now.
FAST game and the little musical thing after game over still makes me chuckle.
Luckily my game came with a large box of spare PF plastics. With all of the
air balls this game eats them.

That's an ingenious fix Where did you find the limo ? Does it interfere with the ball in any way ?

Bruce

#131 5 years ago

I just received an awesome pack of game decals for my Secret service from Bigfoot53 , fantastic stuff , superb quality & he even came up with a few new surprises Great work & Thanks again Bruce!!!

#132 5 years ago

Limo was a 5$ eBay find. There's enough clearance that it doesn't interfere with the ball.

Joined the club a few weeks ago, had to clean it up a bit and change some bulbs but I have a question.. how is the left spinner working for everyone? Mine seems to go thru it smooth and fast like once out of 7-8 times thru. Most of the time it hits it and kind of limps thru it spinning it a couple times. Ive looked at the bracket and every thing seems fine.

#137 4 years ago
Quoted from SpinnerAddict:

mine plays similar , I Think its part shot geometry the right one is just so much easier to hit a ripping shot on & by comparison the left shot is just a little bit farther back there also a contributing factor Could be that the left side entrance has a large rubber ring on the one side of it as opposed to the right side with its solid metal guide ...... it is indeed a let down that I cant reliably backhand that left side

#138 4 years ago

Ok. I feel better knowing it’s part design flaw. Thanks for the quick response!

I have some items scanned if you tell me what you are looking for. Bigfoot has the bulk of the Shrubs and such. Did you try PM him? Also contact Trumpy as he has dealt with Bigfoot recently and may be able to help you two get together.

Stock Yellow circle targets. Can get them from Pinball Resource. Look www.pbresource.com.
Can get circles or complete assembly.

Pinball life recently had the exact targets for this game with the art on them I know because I bought three less than a year ago but alas I looked again & they are now gone from the site , maybe I got the last 3 ?

The Part number Pinball life used is 500-5035-ss but as TecumsehPlissken said they don't show up on their site anymore if you remove the -ss from the pn they show a red and a white version available.

Hey all, picked up Rolpa's Secret Service. Gotta say, really fast game! I'm digging it. A few quick questions though:

A] At what point does the "Get Smart" music play? Haven't had much time to really dig in, but haven't heard it yet.

2) My ball eater doesn't hold the ball long. It will catch it, pull it down, and then spit it back out. Is this correct, or I do I need to take a look at it?

d} My star rollover doesn't seem to register. Should it score all the time, or only during certain situations? I don't want to break something that's already fixed.

Also, anyone have a translite laying around? mine has been cut a little rough and could use a new one.

Thanks!

#150 4 years ago

Yes!

Quoted from RonSS:

During multiball shoot for jackpot.

Quoted from RonSS:

Check ball eater hold coil, switches and mechanisms/spring. I have not had to service this item, I'm just looking at the mechanical drawing. If need be I can open my game up this weekend and take a closer look at it for you.

Quoted from RonSS:

Put the game in switch test and use the ball to roll over the star rollover, not your finger. It should register every time, if not - clean and regap is the most often used solution.
