This is a lame question...

Most modern games use t-nuts or lock nuts on threaded posts that go through the playfield. The threaded post that holds the star post on the right side of the center bank of my Seawitch just broke...leaving the bottom part of the thread still stuck into the playfield. On the underside is just a metal nub. Apparently I've never had to fix one of these before because I'm not sure what to do or how this is held in place.

Do I just pound it out from above with a hammer and awl? Do I pry it loose from below with a flathead?

What's going on here? Don't want to mess up my ability to have the replacement post stick in place.

Quoted from ForceFlow:

Can you post a photo? I'm confused about what you mean by metal nub.

Sorry, I didn't take a pic of underneath. It looks like the head of a screw if the slots were filled in.

Sounds like I just pound it out.

Thanks all. I pounded it out from the top, using a punch tool because no part of it was exposed. Ended up replacing it with a 6-32 and a washer & locknut on the bottom for the time being. The hole was too slim for an 8-32, and the exit hole underneath was so close to the drop target bank that I wasn't going to be able to get any good swings with the hammer on a t-nut without removing the whole assembly.

On the plus side, at least I now know that you don't really need the exact correct replacement...it's okay to make one up with nuts & washers & stuff.
