Tomorrow is the BIG NW Pinball and Gameroom Show!
The TRON pinball will be there! In fact, one's going up on a RAFFLE!

Seattle gets to play TRON first! I'll keep everyone posted on this thread as to developments and other fun things.

I'm heading over to the site right after work (and my lunch break too!). I'll be helping set up games and taking pictures!

YOWZA YOWZA YOWZA!!! FLIEGENDE KINDERSCHEISSE! THIS IS GONNA BE GREAT!

I can't wait to see pics and hear how the game play is. Can't wait to get my LE.
Pin party when I get it. Sealclubber is coming by July 2nd from Alaska. I hope to have it by then.

    #10 8 years ago

That is awesome, good for you! You're still stuck with oogy Starbucks coffee, though.

    #11 8 years ago

If you think about it, grab some pics of the System 11 row... I'm dying to see ALL of them lined up in order.

    #12 8 years ago

Nimble is on the way there....

    Where am I going again!?!
    Picking up who?
    WTF happened today?

    images.jpeg

    Sorry TDA...

I will be at CAX and PPE11!
    No more, no less...
I will see everyone at those two...
Sadly not in Seattle. I am battling windows and siding this next couple of weeks!!
Scooter I need your help!!! (Kidding...)

Take pics and share with the rest of us though!
    Have a great time!

Been there done that hope everything goes as smoothly as possible for you NP. And please for safety put your blinker on when changing lanes!

    #14 8 years ago

I didn't think Nimble was going ... hmmmm ... I think we should come up with some Pinball Myths for Mythbusters to do or at least have them blow one up for us with C4

Speaking of siding. The lower part of my house is brick and the upper sided except for one board. We got another $%*#(! woodpecker. Did you know those are all protected and you can't kill them ? .. Whoops ... I swear I was shooting at something else with my CO2 BB gun (Who wants squab for dinner?)

    #15 8 years ago

mythbusters do their tests at the alameda naval base near the pacific pinball museum. They have gone to the museum a few times. Never when I was there, of course.

    #16 8 years ago

    Wish I was going!

Remember to shoot video and upload to youtube as Stern are taking a lifetime to get this video out!!

    #19 8 years ago

Tron is on location in Lakewood Colorado @ lakewood grill as of last night (June 3), not sure when it was in Seattle but I imagine it was not that much sooner....

    #20 8 years ago

Here's a couple of reasonable shots of the playfield and upper playfield. Hopefully I can get a few more pictures today.

There area two skill shots. The first one is in the first picture. Shoot the ball so that it comes back down the shooter column and bounces off the cushion into Flynn's Arcade. The second one is done by holding the left flipper button down and shooting the ball around the top, then flipping the ball into a ramp. That's the super skill shot.
Magnets are used in the Disc.

Here's a backglass picture and a picture of the lightcycle toys (which don't do anything in the regular version of this game).

Thanks for the pics, LO! While I think the game looks great overall, it's kind of ridiculous that the Tron arcade machine doesn't have a blue glowing joystick. I am sure this will be the first thing the modders try to tackle. That, and some glowing EL wire for the non-LE version.

    #25 8 years ago

Thanks for the info/photos LaughingOtter -

    #26 8 years ago

Except for the human face pictures on the playfield, I like the blue and the layout a lot. Just a shame the art seems to be made by cyclons.

    #27 8 years ago

YAWN ... more of a recycle than a light cycle.

    #28 8 years ago

They really should have incorporated a subway to feed the scoop from a second location.

    #29 8 years ago

    I agree gweempose.
They should of had a "trapdoor" or maybe a "hideout"...

But seriously, they should have put at least one subway in!
They could have modeled it after Sam's under/over stunt in the movie- WITH revving engine and all!
Was I the only one kind of disappointed with the LE pic?

Also Steve Ritchie's AVATAR PF ROCKED!!!

    What a shame...

Some way to derez the ball and re-integrate it? Like Tx-Sector's teleport?

    #31 8 years ago

That would work for me as well!

I hear ya. I could not look at that actors face on the back glass. I would need a paper bag. Sorry Just my opinion.

Oh, and your kid is ugly, got a huge nose.

What happened today that got you so salty!?
Was the "Freedom Trail" closed for construction?!?

Gameplay on TRON was fun, but I did feel a little disappointed in the blandness of the toys and playfield. Stern is starting to look like a cut and paste pinball company. I feel like TRON was on par with Avatar as far as gameplay goes. I guess I was just hoping that in light of their new competition, that they were going to bring it a little harder. Maybe that's what the LE is for, I don't know.

I am with you here. Granted I only saw video and pictures there is nothing that wows me about this pin. I could have ordered an LE this weekend, but from what I see so far it just does not seem worth the cash. For the price could get just about any other pin in good condition and pretty close to the new WOZ. To me there is nothing 'next level' about Tron that I have seen. Maybe playing it would change my mind I don't know.

The reality is that Tron is basically not much different than any of Stern's other recent games (with the exception of the third flipper). What sets it apart, however, is its theme. I feel that one's opinion of the game will all boil down to how much you like or dislike the art, music, etc ... I'm a huge fan of the movie, and I think the Daft Punk soundtrack is amazing. Consequently, I'd love to own the game.

I have emotional scars from Owning LAH, looking at Arnold for 3 years was traumatic.

    #38 8 years ago

The Seattle crowd has a few mixed opinions about TRON, but most agree it's a damn sight better than many of the recent releases.
There's a joke which annoys some of the more hardcore players: "If you pushed a Stern NBA and a Stern Big Butt Hunter off a ten-story building at the same time, which would hit the ground first?" The answer: "Who Cares?"

Yeah he does kinda have that "effect" on people I guess...

I have a twist on an old saying. Instead of "I'd rather not think about it..."

    Mine goes-
"Let's not think about it- Let's DRINK about it!!!" OR...
"I'd rather not think about it- I'd rather DRINK about it!"
    Maybe that might help, wes!
