Since there's been some talk of talk of dehumidifers lately I thought I'd pass this along. Just got a postcard in the mail that a number of Sears Kenmore dehumidifers are being recalled due to fire risk. Apparently this has been going on since August of last year (see: http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2012/Sears-Recalls-Kenmore-Dehumidifiers-Due-to-Fire-and-Burn-Hazards/) but I just received my notification today.

Sears Kenmore dehumidifers have been recalled.

Models:

35-pint (2004) - 580.54351400
50-pint (2003) - 580.53509300
70-pint (2003) - 580.53701300
70-pint (2004) - 580.54701400
70-pint (2005) - 580.54701500

This recall involves Kenmore brand dehumidifers purchased from Sears and Kmart between 2003 and 2009 for $140 ~ $220.

You should stop using the recalled dehumidifer immediately and call the toll-free number. Please do not return the recalled unit to Sears or Kmart.
