is it normal to have screws holding down t-nuts? I was looking through pics of my playfield to begin putting it back together and noticed this, is this something that a operator or tech just threw in because the t-nut was coming loose or was it like that from the factory.

Factory, I am not sure why some titles had them and some didn't though. I am sure someone on here knows the true answer.

Helps them stay put so they don't turn or punch down.

    Usually factory.

Thanks, wasn't sure if that was meant to be like that. My game was filled with all kinds of hacks, Sheetrock screws in the cabinet hacked battery board etc.

I'm not really sure when it started or stopped, but I think I've only seen them on a few WPC titles.

Screws holding the flipper button nuts on some newer Stern pins. Keeps the nut from turning and loosening.

They were all over my Silverball Mania, circa 1979.

Interesting. I guess I never noticed. Good to know that they were factory. My Flash Gordon has had some funny things done to it...

At least my dialed in uses staples for the cabinet t nuts. Not sure if all JJP use staples.

Why are staples better?..a screw you can easily remove and reinstall if needed...a staple seems like a pain in the ass

    Cheaper and faster?

Yup, quite sure that would be why!

im sure that's why they use them...my question was to gorgar007 who said "at least my dialed in uses staples" as if to say they were better to the end user than screws

I took it as they are better than nothing...

Nothing is better than anything in modern machines. No tnuts have fasteners in 30 years

    Ahh...I get it...thx

I wish gottlieb system 3 games had screws on some of the t-nuts, especially the ones with locktite in them. I sometimes end up making those spin when trying to take out the screw, even after it has been heated up.

On WPC and WPC95 games, they were primarily used to hold 6-32 T-nuts in place. The teeth on those are pretty small and can get pushed out easily.
