I’m putting the finishing touches on this Top Score that I’m about to put on the market, and I noticed today that the score-threshold feature that awards replay works on player two (all three score thresholds), but none of them work on player one.

I’m assuming from the schematic that it has to be something on either the player one 1000s unit or the player one 10,000s unit (or both).

I re-soldered to the “C“ contacts on both of those circuit boards thinking that might do it (both looked a bit dicey), but that did not work.

What else should I be looking at / testing on those reels or elsewhere?

Quoted from currieddog:

Take off the reel and clean the board and contacts with some 600# or so sandpaper and 91# rubbing alcohol and swabs. Pay close attention as you disassemble.

I’ll give it a second go-round. I do this as a normal course of action when I restore a game – so all of the reels have been completely disassembled cleaned, the boards polished, and put back together. But I can do it again.

I knew what you meant .

That didn’t do anything when I adjusted and cleaned them.

For what it’s worth, the match feature DOES work on player one, in case that helps diagnose anything.

Quoted from EMsInKC:

Did you put the wipers back on correctly?

As far as I know, yes. I’ve taken apart dozens and dozens of them so unless I did something totally out of the ordinary, and should be back on correctly.

Quoted from currieddog:

Re-doing the solder on the 'C' connection fixed the problem on two reels on my TA. And they both seemed to be good solid solders. And remember that you need to check both the 1K and 10K reels.

Yes, I resoldered the “C“ connection on both the thousands and 10,000 reels. Still no success on player one.
