Sounds like you are describing a broken score motor brake blade at the 3 1/2 switch position. There are no wires connected to this. This should not impact the start up sequence, unless the score motor is not stopping in the correct place, which is not very typical. These brake switches do tend to be broken a lot of times, but in my experience, in most cases, this does not affect score motor operation. I would suggest that you try to find a replacement, however.
