I’ve only read about half of this thread, but I’m impressed with what you guys have accomplished. You mentioned that you talked to Gary and George, and they were supportive. Are they willing to work with you to simplify the hardware interface, so that the Scorbit board for SAM and Spike games is more like $30 than $300? I respect the subscription model, but it only works if the hardware is cheap.

Quoted from hocuslocus:

I think the upfront cost is fair considering the R&D, parts, etc.
Yeah, it'd be awesome if Stern went in with scorbit, since it'll support their older games.

For “one-size-fits-all”, using the Scorbit Probes, the hardware cost makes sense. I assume that it’s really complicated to get the scores from these probes, and it’s a lot of custom hardware. But I was hoping that there would be a way to work with Stern to use the USB port for SAM, so that off-the-shelf hardware (like a $30 PI Zero) could be used. Then Scorbit can enjoy the ongoing subscription revenue.

I’ll understand if Scorbit can’t comment due to ongoing discussions or NDAs with Stern. Maybe Stern doesn’t have an incentive to update the code for all these titles, and maybe it’s harder than I think to use the USB port to communicate scores.

Quoted from jsa:

For a JJP machine, you need the $6 wifi dongle that plugs into the USB port that you can order on Amazon.

I’d like this post 100 times if I could. And I don’t even like JJP pins.
