So I've endevored to repair my TFTC scoop and mantis protect it from the inside.
My first try was with Qwikwood wood putty, but I think I needed to allow it to fully cure before putting the scoop back, as the build collapsed later- and when it did, I noticed there was bonding of the product to the Mantis, thus perhaps that plus gameplay vibration/ball impact caused the collapse? In any event, this stuff never seemed to get cement hard, no matter how much I mixed.
This time I used Miniwax high performance wood filler. I made sure to scuff up the wood prior to application and really tried to get a good bond and cure prior to returning the scoop/mantis. I then put mylar on top of the edges wherever the new material is and the ball could roll.
Based on experience, will this go at it stand a chance, or will I have to move to resin? I don't have much experience with it, and am kind of nervous about using solvents with/around my game; I don't have a workshop to take the playfield while I work on it.
PS- the right side is the concern area for structural integrity.
