Quoted from u2sean:All setup and ready for everyone! Got a few games in on it, and it’s really well polished so far! Flow, light show, audio, callouts, and improved menu and settings really make it the best Spooky to date! I’m really looking forward to getting some time in on it!
OK, that's it. I am flying out to Wisconsin this weekend.
Quoted from jakedistel:What tends to bother me most is when I see a game like Bond 007 ranked as 20th in the Pinside Top 100 with R&M in the mid/late 20’s and Halloween in the late 60’s early 70’s routinely.
Please do not pay attention to the top 100 board. It is meaningless.
Quoted from MattElder:Well, it's been a very busy evening, but I finally have a bit of free time to update everyone on the Scooby setup.
Sadly, #60 has some issues. Some minor, some a bit more serious. Here goes...
Man, I feel your pain. I was upset about my Godzilla Premium and the fact that sometimes a ball would get hung up in the VUK. Small potatoes to what you had unleashed upon you. May be worth it to swap out for a different NIB based on the fact that you ripped out the boards due to the short wires. It is great that they are communicating with you...but dealing with support (no matter how great they are) is always a huge buzzkill when you just want to play your new game.
Quoted from Damonator:tiny handful of easily correctable issues
Personally, I see easy correctable issues as: the glass cover being too tight, a shot not registering, a plastic piece wasn't screwed in tight. Some of the issues raised in this thread are at a higher level.
Quoted from dnapac:R&M has been moved to the second arcade…our mancave…and we are now ready for Scooby!
Looks so empty without 3 pins…but soon will be filled.
Too nice of an area to be working on Scooby
Whack a mole
Quoted from Titokombo:I bet the new machines coming off the line already have this issue fixed.
Quoted from curban:Who’ can or should post ‘where’…really?!!?!…what grade are we in!?
Quick, somebody create another owner thread.
Quoted from GranpaDave:I have had to work and tweak them all.
True, however performing numerous projects on a NIB is not too sweet IMHO. For comparison, my Godzilla Prem has over a thousand plays and never had any issues or needed tweaking. I think it is fair of the consumer to have certain expectations of a NIB, and to simply say "suck it up buttercup, its a pinball machine," is missing the point.
Quoted from Svenop:Yes could easily cannibalize the boards but without the root cause identified its a bandaid with a short lifespan.
Is Scooby a homebrew kit?
Quoted from WizardsCastle:To add to the above, some other issues I've now noticed:
- Start and launch button not lighting
- Left flipper button barely lighting
- Upper playfield right flipper not working (coil looks like it loose under the upper of) and flipper feels like it's binding.
- Left and right orbits not registering any shots at all
Can anyone help?
I am not being sarcastic, but have you contacted Spooky? Honestly, I would be properly pissed off with a newish machine that had an array of issues which you are encountering. I really get upset when I read so many posts detailing the myriad of issues with this machine (forget Halloween). I get frustrated with the amount of " they have amazing customer support.... they are so responsive". Yadda yadda yadda. You bought a damn $10,000 machine.... I do not think it asking too much to have the expectation that certain shit works. Call me crazy if you like.
Quoted from Wildbill327:I would start with checking all my connections to to your boards and just look for a loose connection. After that go into switch test and check your orbit shots to see if they register by hand. I’m not sure if the orbits have a hard switch(standard) or an optical sensor switch but you can test them by hand either way. If they don’t register by hand then lift the playfield and follow the wires to see if it disconnected or broken.
Good advice! Apologies for my earlier rant concerning Scooby issues. Your advice is helpful. I am just frustrated and have empathy for those who are encountering issues with their NIB. It is a lot of money that we are laying down in these "new normal" pinball price times and I want the customer to have a fair shake.
