Given that the upper playfield has Capt Cutler skulking around should mean there is a lot of sea water sloshing around...the longer you are up there the sandwich base could get soggy, the soggy-er the sandwich the more flimsy it gets, draining to the lower playfield drains away the water and dries the sandwich out a bit. Water slowly builds and slowly drains depending on how the timers are set?
As for an OPTIONAL video mode I'd like to see something like the gang driving the mystery machine on a crazy spooky track (creepy forest and or foggy mountain road) dodging obstacles, shite weather and all the while the windshield gets pelted with bats and more bats obscuring the view as you go...flipper steer the van and action button flips the wipers to clear the windshield? Start character your playing is the driver of the Van and each has there own driving style/perk/detriment...
