I experienced flipper fading on the upper PF of my ACNC as well as on the lower PF. After some time it became nearly impossible to backhand the Frankenstein ramp from the left flipper or to succed the ramp on the upper PF for the second Frankenstein lock. Installation of DIY fans on all three flipper coils solved the problem for me.

Since flipper coils on the Scooby Doo upper PF are activated simultaneously to the coils on the lower playfield, especially in trap play I would expect some effects…

Quoted from insight75:

Oh.....that drop target between the flippers....got a couple ball smashes to the glass from it. Maybe coding can help? Not sure.

…same issue with the drop target on the upper PF of ACNC. Happens very often. Always a scary moment.
Coding solution would be highly appreciated.

#639 1 year ago

spooky_dj It would be great if Spooky could take care of the ACNC code once again, since the latest code is already 2 years old and ACNC seems a bit out of support…

Quoted from wastedthelight:

Wrong thread but what did they leave broken or unfinished? Why does it need their attention?

Sorry for off topic (I know), but this very issue was mentioned here, hence my addition…
(Off topic: imho ACNC code has still a few minor bugs, but I don’t care about anymore - e.g. missing position mark ups in the castle maps at certain stages of the game or probably 3 or 4 times the same mystery reward from the start of the game…)

Do you have a list of parts and how to for this?

A must have for ACNC and maybe for SD as well: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/alice-coopers-nightmare-castle-club-enter-at-own-risk/page/143#post-6883560

…Second had a ground in the play field lighting circuit. A plate was screwed down onto a light board. No way was not done at the factory and still got through testing.

Bummer. Could you share an picture of that? Just to add another point on the pre-turn-on DIY QC check list…

Quoted from Boat:

I think I found out what was going on with my shooter lane and the ball not going up.
The right wood rail was too close to the ball pushing it off Center and it was firing into the left wooden rail (on the left of the shooter lane further up)
Moved the rail to the right . All good now….

Hello Spooky, the excitement is rising with every update, great job!
Is there already a schedule when the first SD CEs will be shipped to Europe?

Has anyone ever thought of a cold solder joint? I had similar problems with BSD and T2 - inconsistent coil performance - and resoldering did the trick…

#5664 10 months ago
Quoted from kezorm:

Anyone have it randomly add an another player when playing first ball? It’s happened 4 or 5 times so far in 100 or so games. Also had it kick into service mode once in middle of a game. Never anywhere near start button or service switches. Reported to DJ, but wondering if more widespread issue. If others experiencing, could point to noise or software bug. If not, then likely harness or connector issue on my specific machine.

Maybe the start button switch is too sensitive and triggered by e.g. shaker action etc.!?

Quoted from pinball_ric:

My right flipper is significantly weaker than the left. The right has to be a perfect shot to make it up to the upper playfield but the left has no issue at all getting up there. Both are at 100% power. What would cause this? Is the coil potentially bad?

Resoldering the coil lugs would be another possibility

Congratulations! Does „truck this side“ mean that the bottom of the cabinet is facing this side inside the box? On which side of the box is the bottom of the cabinet?

#8207 5 months ago
Quoted from mrbillishere:

Yes, that is correct. "Truck This Side" = the side the bottom of the cabinet is touching inside the shipping box.

Thanks

Optimal on R&M was 85 Contrast, 25 Brightness, and Gamma On, you may have to play around to see what works best on SD.

Where can the settings be adjusted???

There is a set of very small buttons on the back of the display panel itself.

Thanks. Not quite easy to manage without instruction but finally i got it

SD #793 in the house. Game is playing great without problems during the first 50 games. Well done, Spooky!!!
My only criticism so far is that in some situations, e.g. SSMB, the volume turns up automatically and the sound becomes far too loud... Hope one of the next updates will fix this.

This happens regularly, the sheet metal behind the post is very thin and is bent down. Anybody else with this problem? Solutions?

IMG_0353 (resized).jpegIMG_0353 (resized).jpeg
#8722 4 months ago
Quoted from sretooh:

Simple fix is to bend that metal up slightly above horizontal. Do it for them all. Problem went away on my end after that, but yes I suffered through the same thing out of the box.

Yes, thanks. But how will this look like?
I‘m thinking about adding some DIY macrolon protectors to stabilize the thin metal…

I didn't like that the van looked twisted due to the cutout in the roof and the roof was sunken at the back right. So I bent a bracket out of thick wire to stabilize the roof and the van.
Here is the result of this little DIY mod, before and after installing the bracket…

Decided to flip the coil so the wire is coming out the right side of the hand. I Hot glued the wire to the coil. Zip tied the wire to the gate switch. Now the hand is not rubbing the steel bracket. [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Thanks for the suggestion, much better with both cables glued to the coil and flipped coil on the left hand side…

I secretly live it when I can break a game like this. It’s frustrating in a great ball, but luckily this happened in an average game. I always enjoy when stuff like this happends.

Are you an orthodontist? good wire bending skills

No, actually a vet

Quoted from PinDeadHead:

Nicely done. Where did you get the Marcolon material? Do you have a link? Thx

I usually make clear plastic protectors out of it, was a leftover. Just google lexan sheet, polycarbonate sheet etc.
This material can be bent and won‘t break. A piece of cardboard could work as well…

Hello everybody,
here's my next DIY improvement for SD...

Problem: balls hitting the sharp edge of the left lane guide, causing some wear and a clunky noise.
Solution: replacing the standard post rubber by two post rubbers, glued together, covering the sharp edge.

Merry X-mas!

New code is on the support page!

Well done that late at night!

Update 2024.01.06.00 installed... Two findings during the first game:
1. Skill shot cannot be chosen by pushing flipper buttons
2. Game freezes after completion of 7th villain after 3rd ball (setting: 5 balls per game), coin door buttons dead, restart required.
I will send the log file…

I've been meaning to try this, what did you use to glue it together and how is it holding up?

Any shoe glue for leather, rubber etc. should be appropriate. After approximately 20 games all parts still in place with no wear

Quoted from StacksOT:

I keep bending it up when it happens, but been good for a while. I figure I could hold it up with something if needs be.

I think about putting 2mm Macrolon clear plastic under these (too) thin metal guides.

Is anyone having the issue where the game where put another ball in shooter lane and get confused once the first ball drains. Keeps doing this after every ball. I usually turn off and turn back on and seems to fix. Not sure why this is happening. Thanks.

Yes, that happens from time to time. No clue yet about what‘s the cause…

#11046 37 days ago

Hello everyone,
I think I notice that in Daphne mode sometimes even safe shots at the purple targets are registered as green (Frankenstein is getting closer). In my opinion, the software should be checked…
Anybody else who noticed this issue?

#11134 35 days ago
Quoted from lpeters82:

PS: We'll reduce the frequency of Mystery Awards in a "b" patch shortly. Going to stick with Scooby Snacks, it's on the rules card, but we'll increase the boost so the first will be easy; but the subsequent snacks needed will be increased +3 per award instead of +1 per award.

Sounds good. Too much action from the magnet will also magnetize the balls faster…

#11165 35 days ago
Quoted from ypurchn:

1823 BSE finally in the house. Worked up an awesome 7mm on the old code.
New code high score is 250MM about 40 games played so far.
Seems to be a bug that if the bonus is in the millions - say 2,xxx,xxx bonus given ends up being 20,xxx,xxx like there’s a 0 slipped in the coding. Has happened on Fred and Scooby that I know of.

…the bonus calculation often is completely confusing for me, too.

#11288 30 days ago
Quoted from Kevlar:

I occasionally get what I believe to be a bug, where I get to the trap phase of a mode where you just shoot the upper playfield 3 times and let it come back to the left flipper 3 times before making the final shot ( Creeper? ), however the successful upper playfield shots do not seem to count and tick off the trap shots. I'm sure it's not a switch problem as my upper playfield selective flippers work 99% of the time.

…the problem is not the switch, but the design with the wide gap between the lane guide and the bookcase. Only approximately 60% of the shots hit the switch.

#11304 30 days ago

…yesterday with the latest code I played CC MB for the first time and the game went completely confused. The MB ended with still two balls in play (both flippers dead, end of ball bonus) and CC MB animation restarted with the next ball.
I wrote the log files on USB, will send it to Spooky for diagnosis.

Hey gang. How come I see different perks here when I play my new Scoob? I get a Ruh-Roh perk instead.[quoted image]

…the video shows an older code version, probably v2023.10.26.15

#11443 19 days ago
Quoted from Wzpin:

Just starting to have an issue where you are playing and it just launches a 2nd, 3rd ball - and gets confused, ball ends. Anyone having this problem? I'm running the latest build. Game is essentially unplayable at this point.

Yes, last time it happened to me was at the end of a villain mode when the ball fell into the left VUK at the same time. Game stopped, nothing happened, ball wasn‘t registred sitting in the VUK assembly.
Then suddenly the game started a ball search, kicked out the ball and the ball drained immediately (I wasn‘t standing in front of the machine anymore). After that it started throwing balls into play and got completely confused…
Still a long way to go to eliminate all these bugs…

#11444 19 days ago

Another time in a two player game the game ended after ball one / player two. No second ball for player one in the shooter lane, display frozen. when pressing both flipper buttons Scooby asked for shooting the white shots - just as if the game continued.
Disappointing.

Nice so now I can finally see how the subway / hidden passage work - if I’m understanding the picture correctly a post pops out of the field at the top of the horse shoe loop to divert it down to the subway?

No, it‘s not a post but a magnet that catches the ball.

Today, during „would‘ve gotten away with it“ mode (as Velma) the GI turned off completely. Very hard to play the mode, I managed to survive the Werewolf and Frankenstein phase in the darkness

Quoted from soria3:

Would‘ve gotten away with it wizard Mode is all darkness, except when you shoot slingshots or spiners.

…I played this mode 3 or 4 times before but I never noticed that all went dark. Maybe yesterday was the first time I played in the evening in a dark game room. Interesting
