Quoted from SpookyLuke:

I've been on about a 3 month tear reviewing quality here from the ground up to the top! From improving checklists to individually reviewing employees and just helping everyone learn every day. Unfortunately things like this still slip by sometimes which is extremely frustrating. We have some really good guys on final QC they will get there!

Nature of the beast in manufacturing.

I think it's funny as hell that Spooky still pokes fun at the great missing latch debacle
For anyone that's unfamiliar with this madness, the fun starts here... you're welcome.

And here I thought this whole time it meant to check allot because it would be full of quarters.

I still check a lot but just realized the free play setting has circumvented that need...

Reposting this shipping projection link from the hype thread. I will be updating this as more data comes available to try to improve accuracy.

Understood. Things will always slip by occasionally. It's the nature of the beast. These are super complex pieces of machinery. It is reassuring to hear that Spooky is cognizant of it and is actively working on it.
Thanks!

It’s back in action after a brief hiatus and upper playfield flipper fixing. Thanks for everyone that played it, and apologies to those that stopped out and couldn’t.

What’s the best way to get to the upper flippers for service?

#258 1 year ago

On location @ North End Pub in Lafayette, IN. Needs some dialing in which I will try to get to tomorrow but it seems playable at the moment.

Gotta remove the upper playfield for real access. You can kinda get at a few parts by removing the castle front but disassembling is really the best way to do it and make sure you’re not having to do it again anytime soon.

Is it straightforward getting the upper playfield off?

Do we know if the Spooky cup holder is configured for the left, right, or either?

Pretty sure it can go on either as this is the one. https://www.pinballlife.com/pingulp-30.html

Fairly straight forward, but a good number of screws to remove and some cabling to work around.

I’ll be having to do this to adjust an opto mount that is causing a ball hang up. Not looking forward to it

Another one to add to the 'just paid my invoice' list for those keeping track. I'm #66. No butter.

The family is super excited!

Figured the first batch was gonna b looked over really well... so far the few out the box have had some qc issues.

Screw coming loose during transportation isn’t a QC issue. Having to adjust an opto is. Hopefully it’s just pitched too low causing the issue.

My wife and I stopped into your place after a Purdue game over Christmas break. Awesome little spot, great variety of pins! We could tell immediately it was run by someone passionate. Thanks for keeping them in tip top shape! That's not often the norm anymore.

Remember, Spooky is including a custom Pingulp for free with every CE. It's not lit up, but it is Scooby themed and it's free.

Hello, could anyone please confirm that a pingulp is indeed included?
I would LOVE to see a pic, also.

I just read the ACNC thread about the missing latch. Holy hell man. I've heard about the legendary tale but never read it. That is up there as the funniest thing I've ever read on Pinside... Whoever has that game now has a great story that goes with that machine.

I mean since toppers go for freaking $1k-2k now, get some of that almost $11k back

#287 1 year ago

“I can’t believe it’s butter” is what the lady in the commercials said. IIRC Spooky Luke said none of the butter cabinets had been run yet. Congrats, the game looks great and popular. Also you are the first basement on the block to have SD pinball. Cool. Rut Roh!

#288 1 year ago

The next coding milestone to be reached on SD imo, should be adding five character modes. Each character has a colored wireform assigned, so you can only imagine starting all characters and lighting up five rails. And two of them feed the apron locks. INSANE! That is coming soon.

Quoted from bobukcat:

LOL...won't work...too wide. I was able to barely cram a Whirlwind and Doctor Who topper in between the floor joists in the past, but that was a pain and looked terrible. I will build another crate stand for this one like I did Halloween. Bonus of using crates for Halloween, the knife could still stab! I like how that looks and the extra shelf space, so plan to do that again as soon as I can.

Quoted from StacksOT:

Thanks! After only a handful of plays, I would say they have a huge winner here. Super fun to shoot. The upper playfield is probably the best one I have ever played. So many awesome shots up there, and words cannot describe the coolness of the crazy flipper/diverter fling thing. I love that you can easily choose to treat the ramp as just a great feeling ramp, or hold the flipper to play the upper playfield any time you want. The lower pf, while being mostly a fan layout, feels really unique because of the ball paths. Having two quick loops instead of a full orbit makes for an interesting, unique, and fun feel. The ramps and Mystery Machine shot all feel great. Tons of backhand shots, which I love. The apron locks are so cool...can't wait to see them in full use. I wasn't sure about the two rows of drops, but they make for some really interesting geometry over there. The ball can sneak between them, knocking down the far ones before the near ones, etc. Different and fun. I also am thankful to not have experienced any cheap drains because of them like I expected to. I love the "sling wall" on the right. It doesn't feel like it's missing anything over there like some have expressed concern about. That sling throws the ball quickly into the drop targets for some cool dynamics.

I am still learning the code for sure, but there is already a LOT there. It doesn't feel like bare-bones release code at all. Lots of fun rules to dive into. A/V assets are great. So many fun sounds when you hit anything, but not overboard obnoxious either like it could have been. And it is absolutely, drop dead gorgeous. I know it looks great in pictures, but trust me...they do not do it justice. The powdercoat is the best I have seen. At first the green looked like too much in pics, but in person...perfection. Just an amazing package overall.

As much as I love my Halloween, quirks and all, I think it's a pretty safe statement that this is Spooky's best game yet, and I have honestly enjoyed all of them.

Quoted from SpookyLuke:

We did not include any butter cabinets in the first batch, however we have 60+ in stock and will be putting 7 up on the line each day this week so they will be coming.

The Scooby order tracker list is incomplete, but the only butter cabs listed in the first 100 games are:
# 30 for Dr.Dude from Spooky
# 31 for Magicchiz from Spooky
# 43 thru Nitro
# 47 for sydneylumer thru Kingpin
# 57 from Spooky
# 61 for ThatGuyBo from Spooky
# 77 for wfumed from Spooky
# 86 for ilushka85 from Spooky
So it looks like Magicchiz and Dr.Dude should be receiving their butter cab Scoobys very soon.

#295 1 year ago

Wowza, SD cuts a striking jib. As nice a one as EHOH40. Did the coin door come powder coated or was it an option?

Could SD win the 2023 TWIPY for best artwork? Absolutely. But there’s a lot of games coming out in 2023 including 2 Zombie Yeti and 3 Christopher Franchi design packages. It could be more, but expect six games to vie for best artwork and all of them have an element of truth as to why it’s the best. The race has started and SD is in poll position and close to being a 10/10.

I’d love to see the side artwork that comes on the CE. Those haven’t been clearly shown anywhere. They seem dark with not much going on. Thoughts from anyone that has seen them in person?
Top right looks like some good artwork, but left side, what seems to be a dark forest, is so dark that I’m wondering if there’s much to see.
