Quoted from Svenop:My game is coming Monday. This is my first pinball machine. Should I wax the playfield on setup? Or do I have to wait a few months since it's new?
I believe I had also seen a post somewhere about turning down the power settings to extend the life of components that are higher than need, what settings should I adjust out of the box?
My suggestion …
Just set it up, plug it in and play it.
Keep the playfield clean - clean off any ball trails with simple green and a soft cloth.
Reading some posts on Pinside, a new guy could think you have to obsessively change everything. And wax it after every game. That’s not the case. These machines are designed to be delivered to site, plugged in and take peoples money.
The KISS principle applies.
I have “quite a few” machines - outside of tournament settings and no extra balls, there is only one machine that has an adjustment in the settings menu - upper flipper power pushed two notches on ACNC. That’s it.
All the other pins are just set up correctly, at the right angles and levels, and are stock.
Hope that’s helpful.
