Look, probably none of you care about my opinion. That's fair. Here's my take.
I immediately ordered a Scooby CE as soon as I saw the basic layout and gameplay.
I ordered the CE because I wanted all the bells and whistles, and that's EXACTLY WHAT I GOT.
Every single extra that was available over a year ago when they launched the game, that's what I got.
The understanding that they would keep upgrading the code, fixing bugs and adding features, that is a given.
This new topper, which I personally think looks amazing and has great features is AN EXTRA.
NOT available at all a year ago, and maybe not ever, if say they didn't sell as many games as they hoped.
We STILL got a full-featured packed game for less that Stern charges for their LE; a LOT less.
We are not getting "screwed over" by Spooky, they are offering AN EXTRA. Frankly it's a topper that has twice the appeal of Stern's toppers for about half the price of a lot of the toppers out there. Sure there's a video mode that only comes with the topper, but Spooky said they were ALSO giving it to all non-topper owners who can qualify that mode and run it as a Hurry-Up.
Want to look at some actual fuckery? Stern has locked the King of The Monsters Challenge Mode to their Godzilla Topper ONLY for a thousand bucks, and that's a feature (the Challenge Mode) they previously gave out to everyone for free starting with JP. Now it's behind a paywall and the rest of the GZ owners get NOTHING.
Take a good look at what you get from Stern for a grand: https://shop.sternpinball.com/products/godzilla-topper
and compare that to the Scooby topper - not even in the same ball park.
You can feel about this however you want, I think it's both entirely fair and a bargain compared to the competition.
