Quoted from konjurer:

Just joined the club! For some reason, I just wasn't all that interested in Scooby even though I love the cartoons. I stumbled across a pre-owned CE at a good price and did an impulse buy which is not something I've ever done...usually fret over a purchase for a year or two before buying a machine. After playing a ton of Scooby Doo over the weekend, I'm find that this is one of my favorite games ever! I'm really shocked at how well this game shoots. Every shot is makeable! The modes are so well done, engaging and easy to comprehend. My only minor complaint so far is that I think the user interface design is aesthetically weak. Thankfully it doesn't matter as the rest of the game is solid. Great job Spooky!

enjoy, it really is a fantastic pin

Quoted from DaddyManD:

Hi folks. As promised I am providing follow up on my dreaded Scooby launch issues. This is my personal experience and not meant to be anything but that, hoping it maybe helps the next Scooby lover!
Did the slow mo videos and like others, the ball was rattling along the shooter lane as it was being launched to the left. My good friend PinDeadHead also had the launch issue and a fix from Spooky support solved his issue. That was the advice to spread forks 1-2 mm. This worked for a few launches then same issue for me. Tried different coil settings from 50-100, same. I just installed the TSB mod and the problem unfortunately persisted, worked a few times then same issue. Adjusted coil settings, checked shooter lane switch, ball position, same. I do think the mod helped somewhat and is well made and TSB is great.
After weeks of looking at this thing I really felt the issue for me is that the forks were not always coming fully back to rest due to “tightness” around the blue hinge piece. I have had 30+ pins come in and out of my house and am building a homebrew with my sons so know my way around a machine pretty well. And in all this time there has only been one single other occasion when I used a single drop of synthetic oil to remedy an issue on an Iron Maiden (lube pictured…NOT to be confused with WD40). I placed one drop of the Super Lube in the groove where the blue hinge piece is. In concert with TSBs mod still installed, we had 50 launches in a row perfectly down the middle at 75% power and could clearly see that the forks were coming back to rest fully centered each time and the entire plunger was also fully up out of the coil.
Since we have had Scooby we have never had more than 10 successful launches in a row. This is a personal fix that worked for me tonight so far and I am pleased. This did not come from Spooky so decide for yourself if you want to try. TSBs mod is still installed because I do think it helps the forks reseat better as a single contact point. Will let you know if tomorrow its all shit again lol
[quoted image][quoted image]

So freakin scary. So many people with the same issue without a permanent fix from spooky.

#9353 8 months ago

I squeezed the forks together by like 1-2mm months ago and haven't had any issue with launching the ball since.

I was told late Jan-early Feb for BSE shipping.

Is this timeframe for buying directly from Spooky, from a distributor, or for all BSEs?

#9355 8 months ago

I assume this will be shown on the next stream. New interactive topper.

Sorta disappointed to see spooky go for the topper cash grab.

That said…it looks pretty cool.

#9359 8 months ago

Topper video posted on FB at the exact same time Stern posted the new Jaws video (which shows nothing of the machine still). Love how these young guys are running Spooky. Topper looks great and I’m not a topper guy, but I love a video mode.

Cash grab? How dare a company try to make money while giving us something extremely cool.
You can still enjoy the free topper that came on the game.

#9362 8 months ago

Kinda bummed on the topper cash grab as well, but alas that is the market now. It's much better than the stock on the CE that's for sure. Also has a lot more than several other mfr toppers out there for the same price.

Exactly and the price is half of a RUSH Topper that STERN put out...talk about cash grab!

Yes…the topper prices are absurd. That said, You certainly can not blame a company to produce a product for folks to buy.

They would be foolish to NOT jump on the smoking hot topper bandwagon. Anything that keeps these pinball manufacturers healthy and producing new machines I am in full support.

Not meant to be a dig at you in any way but it somewhat amuses me how Pinside regularly forgets that these are businesses trying to, you know, turn a profiit.

My ceiling would like to know what the dimensions are of this new topper? This looks fantastic!

11" high, 26" wide, 7" deep - We have an update pending, which includes all the topper goodies, plus some exciting new stuff for everyone.

Damn. This is awesome. Kind of glad I have to sell Scooby to make room for TCM so I don’t have to buy this…

I so want to be mad at you guys right now but I just can't. My wallet is not happy though!

Can't wait to get this topper. Just one more awesome item for a great game.

Does this topper work on the BSE or just CE?

I hear ya. We made a really strong effort to keep the price more reasonable than other toppers as well as offer more content. We added actual licensed clips on the topper screen and custom animations as a full video mode. Its hooked right to the PC so it can be updated right along with the game and interactive with it. Plus being sculpted and mechanized.

#9372 8 months ago

Topper is next level! Actually less of a topper, and more of an addition to the game experience. Way to go Spooky!!!!

Are these ready to go or is this basically a preorder?

Meh, all this going to do is make people opt for the BSE knowing they’ll dump a new topper out a few months into the run.

They are currently in production. The first orders will be shipping very soon, however not knowing how the reception would be we won't have an unlimited supply right away, so there may be built in batches.

Why wasn’t this topper included with the original game uhh now spooky is just like all the rest unbelievable

Thanks for all your efforts on a great game. One thing you guys do better than anyone else is customer service that's for sure.

How much higher is this than the topper that ships with the CE, i.e. how much more room, if any, will people need above their game to fit it?

Sorry disagree, the BSE art package is nothing to go WOW about, that's why 95% of their sales are for CE's. Look at the art package on TCM and LT and tell me you'd buy a BSE? You don't buy a machine in hopes the company will come out with a topper.

It's a little bit shorter then the CE topper.

We really did debate this quite a lot. We thought about making the topper a CE exclusive. We thought about having one price for CE buyers and one price for BSE and SE buyers. At the end of the day, with how few BSE and SE machines are out there we decided to just offer the CE pricing for everyone. Worst case this means that a handful of BSE and SE buyers get a reduced rate on a topper.

I see on the website it says that you have to order from your distributor. I'm cutting ties with my distributor and have moved to another one and prefer to no longer do business with them. Can I order the topper thru my distributor I used for TCM?

#9383 8 months ago

*If you bought your Scooby machine through a distributor you MUST buy it from them!*

What about people who bought their Scooby used from a previous owner? Neither from a distributor nor direct from Spooky?

Don’t get that requirement, seems like an unnecessary complication. What about people buying second hand?

I’m personally glad I didn’t have to pay $1k more and wait a year longer for Scooby release just for this topper to be “included”.

…of course Spooky has every right to make cool shit and make money off it…and, as I said, this looks pretty cool.

My ‘mild’ disappointment is because until now Spooky has not nickel & dimed their customers for ‘the best’ version of a game like Stern has been doing. Now this is first sign that they’re following along in Sterns footsteps. From business sense…it’s probably the right move…that doesn’t mean I have to embrace it!

Anyway…best wishes to Spooky on this. It looks like it will be very desirable and should sell. Personally, I’m tempted and gotta think it over.

BSE art package is way better than CE IMO. It's the mystery machine. Plus if you've seen the black sparkle powdercoat they use on the armor? Way better than slime green on CE. It's amazing! I'm super pumped I went BSE now and this topper just rounds out that decision.

Spooky is a business, their purpose is to make money - it's not a charity
Literally everything they do is a cash grab.

We like both art packages.

To be fair, Spooky supplied us with a 2D topper included, now you have a choice for a more robust one. I appreciate the free one, now I have a choice to make.

Duh. Of course!

Prostitutes do it for the money too. So do those hoodlums doing coordinated looting at Nike stores.

My point: There are more and less respectable ways to make money (and more and less legal ways too!). In my opinion…spooky was at highest level of respectability. Today they moved an inch towards Stern. Pretty sure it’s still legal! .

You can still enjoy the free topper that came on the game.

The original topper wasn't free. You paid for it by opting for the ce model. I currently own 4 spooky titles and enjoy them all. I purchased direct from spooky and have supported them to the tune of $40,000
This leaves a taste so bad. Am I getting the Xtra fucking modes on the ce I purchased for $10,600 fucking dollars? If not Fuck You Spooky! I'm speaking for myself only so you can all have your own opinions on this. but I'm gonna have mine also. Check my stats I cry and whine and downvote nothing! But this.....fu again spooky.

Spooky please please please please Explain to me how you're not fucking me over!

Exactly. Anyone complaining should check themselves tbh. The CE came with a topper that does interact with the game as well. Who else INCLUDES a topper with their game and under 10k (yes Labyrinth is there now).

Is the included topper as cool as this - nope but it that's why you have choices. It's also why there are third party toppers out there for other games. Do you think the guys at Electric Playground would be doing what they do if there wasn't a market for toppers?

I am happy to have the choice to get this fully licensed one from Spooky. Is it a bunch of $$, yep. Is it a lot better than the 1k + Stern GZ topper - yep.

I am hoping this is meant in jest if not I have no idea what to say. How anyone could think that Spooky is screwing you over because they released a cool ass topper as an add on a year later is beyond my comprehension.

Wow…a really cool add-on is offered and some go crazy. Many, many companies…pinball, car, ect…offer aftermarket add ons to increase the consumer experience if they desire to spend to additional cash for that experience. It’s a choice you get to make. And I think this is an incredible added experience! It’s ok if someone else doesn’t, but please don’t be vile about it.
