could you link the post for the audio upgrade. I remember seeing it somewhere. It can’t seem to find it in the search.
Thanks in advance!

I would recommend adjusting the amp before buying anything.

Turn the main amp volume (inside the cabinet) way down to half or below, and use the door controls to control the volume.

Agreed - I gotta say I've put pinwoofer upgrades in several Stern machines that had truly awful sound. However all of the Spooky + American Pinball games (and also TBL from Dutch) I've owned have sounded amazing after simply tweaking the amp and the in-game sound settings. I'd be very surprised if any upgrades were really necessary.

You are pulling audio from the HDMI cable in the head, rather than the audio output from the mini-PC

Guess that can result in a cleaner signal

Quoted from RebelGuitars:

No one is butt hurt except you continuing find a way to bring up being called out.
IMO, you’ve come into the thread at the end of the run, telling everyone here what’s wrong, how things should’ve been done, and that you’ll be redesigning Spooky’s half assed wireform.
77 post in 27 days. Read the room maybe. Spooky isn’t looking to consult with you. It’s rude AF to suggest they reach out to you.
I have issues with all my games from time to time. I just don’t feel like I have to go cry about it or write several lengthy post to make myself seem smarter.

Something about what ive done or said is bothering you personally? Not sure why its a less than 9 month old game and experiencing issues, came here for help. Its an internet forum, people complain constantly. Not at all what what i was having them reach out to me about but feel better? ( i have uploaded pictures for you) Questioning a strangers intelligence based on problems and post on a forum? Come on man youre better than this. You dont know me from a dick in a wall. I was just giving my opinions if you dont like them dont read them. Was taught in the military you cant bitch without a solution. Bitching without a solution is the problem. So thats how i am. all i was and am trying to do was help the avg person here not need to buy a 3D printed bandaid, since there is no fix. If you cant see that no need to try and belittle a helping hand. I get why if you own this game youd be pissed that I have so many gripes. Theres a reason theres so many of these on the market with less than 250 plays. But to try and put me down to silence me, to keep your values up, based on what I have experienced is childish. I also said i was considering it, and thats just my opinion no clue why this bothers some of you guys so much. I'm not 100% on and thats my view you dont have to like it. I dont know in what universe asking a company to reach out due to playfield problems is rude AF? But Merry Christmas and enjoy!

Quoted from rotordave:

On top of that, it was a used game.
Who knows what the previous guy did to it.
I still can’t get over the “5 replacement warden boards” because the game had magnetic balls.

I’d suggest you don’t buy a new Stern game! Your head might explode.
Every time I clean my Jurassic Park or Maiden I have on location, l leave with bleeding hands … lol
rd

5 boards before i got it. Not by me, im sure i would have had a few more lengthy post here after the second one explaining how i would have made the PCB. Im stupid but not dumb enough to replace 5 boards with out anything else or checking other things. Appreciate the help in the past!

Quoted from CurtisC:

In regards to the speaker hisssssss....
I found that mine was mainly caused by the HDMI board on the stock monitor. I replaced the 1/8 stereo phono to stereo RCA cable with a shielded version, and added a HDMI audio extractor (both from amazon). the cable did help, but didn't remove the majority of the hiss. I have lots of short hdmi cables, so i just used one i had.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084RN22MW - audio extractor
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BWM59LST - cable

Here it is guys audio fix cheap too

#9257 8 months ago

This is what I was asking them to reach out for… not going to explain why this is happening. But it’s there.

Was trying to keep another issue off this thread. But being labeled as “ rude” or other adjectives multiple times by a few members lead me to upload these, to prove it’s more than just “crying”. Minor, yes of course. annoying without a doubt. was asking them to reach-out for guidance. Im sure theyll be more than happy to assist. Anyone that wouldnt in this hobby is a straight liar. Cause if i ever go to sell this thing, the first thing someone is going to point out or ask for is wear, cause we all do it. Once again this is a forum, AKA a place on the internet to discuss.

Quoted from blaskoa:

Has anyone had issues with the last update? After captain cutler MB, when i hit the MM, it wint aoit the ball out. Its almost as if its ball locked, but wont eject a second one. It doesnt say “ball locked”, it just keeps the ball and doesnt vuk it out of MM, or wont shoot another ball. This is the fourth time its happened in about 8 games since the update. Essentially not playable at this time.
This started since i updated the code a few days ago. I will replace the balls with new ones to make sure its not a magnetic issue, but it did start with the nee code. Any suggestions?
Additionally, i set the upper flippers to selective, but they dont work when i go to the upper playfield. I assume that switch isnt working?

Unfortunately, i switched out new balls and i still have the same issues. I played 4 games this morning and each game loss track of a ball in the MM. It seems to happen on any mode or multiball. If i hit MM during a villian or character mode, it keeps the ball and wont vuk or shoot another ball.

It started with the very last update, so i will go back to previous version. Scooby is a really fun game, but its hard to swallow having issues like this.

OK, if you put the game into Switch Test, and toss a ball into the MM, does Switch 39 Right VUK go Active and STAY active as long as a ball is sitting in there?

Yes, under switch test and a ball in the MM the right VUK switch 39 is and stays active.

To verify this when a ball is in the MM i go to stuck switches and it also shows switch 39 active.

Thank you for your help by the way. Do you think i should go back to the previous software to determine if its software vs hardware?

I know the feeling, great game and takes a little bit to get it dialed in. theres talk of the new code coming out which will clean out a bunch of tiny stuff. If it does it with the old code, game is seeing it in test, i would guess warden board.

Quoted from blaskoa:

Check for what I ran into (link a couple of posts back) before reloading the code. It seriously might be as simple as turning down the pulse strength of your MM launcher. All you have to do is watch/listen exactly what happens to balls when they go into the MM. If you hear the eject mechanism fire, but you don't see a ball, it has probably bounced back around to where there are not optos to detect them, hence the ball search.

This is a super skill shot I randomly found, I am guessing its very very rare to hit this. Dont read if you dont want a super super super skill shot revealed. Ive had some frustrating posts recently, but want to share this. Im a newb but feel this sho can happen by an extremely random shot.

See the attached photo and ball route from the launch for this super skill shot.

Upon launch the ball needs to hit the right inlane switch, to left inlane switch, to left drop target.

Merry xmas, try and hit this skill shot today!

Yes, Bug has shown this in one of his Scooby vids.

Skill Shot must be set to Drops, and you schatz the left inlane and drop the bottom-most drop target to earn it.

Have never even tried to get it myself, just not good enough

Folks you don't need the splitter. The reason this works is because after splitting, you're running the new audio cable outside the harness, which prevents it from picking up interference. Just get the audio cable and connect it to the 3.5mm jack on the display board and run it to the amp, outside the main wiring harness.

So I noticed on Instagram that spooky posted they're going to be making the remaining scoobys, TCM and LT at the same time. I think there's a strong possibility I get my Scooby BSE and TCM at the same time. Never expected that to occur. Need to figure out where I'm going to put them.

Champagne problems, brother!! I can’t wait to hear what TCM plays like. I’ll get the Looney Tunes version but it sure looks clever. I love Spooky’s creativity - Scooby rules

Probably already asked and answered… does the total 1969 include all 3 editions?

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, I’m looking forward to spending time with Scooby in 2024!

Yes. No limit on any model. Just a hard limit on the amount of all Scooby they agreed to make.

Looks like they're going to fall way short of that. Looking at the CE numbers and the handful of BSE and SEs on the tracking sheet, there prob will be less than 1400 of them made which is pretty amazing they made that many.

Yeah, I probably should have used that line, too. “Come on man, you’re better than this.”
I know you’ve never tried the part that I designed, yet you've maligned it solely based on your opinion.

Fair enough, but never questioned education or skill sets. I called it a band aid because it shouldn’t have came to us like this. Even my offerings and suggestions are band aids. May have came off “cocky”, I got spooled up. But Not everything has to be about monetary gain or money attached to it.

See, again with the assumptions. Nothing I've shared with the group has returned enough 'monetary gain' to eclipse a job at McDonalds, hour/$. I've made improvements & fixes for my game, and made them available to other owners in the group. That shouldn't really be enough to spool you up. Everything has money attached to it... my $ if I give it away, your $ if you buy it.

Was feeling a little inspired and whipped this up in CAD.
A few 3d printed parts + some paint sticks + some black fabric with some gold sparkles as the bottom of the mine.

Since I started with my ship mount, it already has an LED holder for a flickering flame inside but I think it will stay as is for now.

Just wanted to cross post this from the Facebook group, I am sure Jake and Russ, etc. have seen it:

"So thanks to you guys, John in the comments, and AJ from Spooky, I worked today in the machine. I believe I was measuring as correctly as possible, but did not get a bad warden reading. We think it could be a coil on either the trough or launcher. Going to try the Bobby pin method tomorrow and disconnect the wires from the connector and see if that stops all the other antics. It is definitely narrowed down to the green chain though."

Today I am going to try to narrow down if it is a coil, or I just need to measure properly with the meter. Posting a photo here in case someone thinks the multimeter itself is off, or such. AJ has been awesome to reach out during their break, and he just wants to make sure he sends me the correct parts so it does not happen again.

Just wanted to send out positive words to our hobby community and Spooky. I'm a first time owner and while this can be upsetting or frustrating, there is so much care and support around. Thank you guys for being so much fun to chat, discuss, and help with. Someday I will pay it forward as the veterans in here have to me!

A vote of confidence from Danzig puts it over the top from me...PM sent to TSB_!
We LOVE our Scooby. However we have struggled with this issue since we got the pin. I have done multiple fixes including following instructions from Spooky support, adjusting forks, adjusting coil power etc. Every time we "fix" the issue we get launches for a few days and then it goes back to slapping the shooter lane again.
After I spent time fixing it last week pre-Xmas it was working perfectly...then we had guests over for Xmas and the shooter lane issue was a huge problem. Didn't have room to take glass off/on due to kids running around so it didn't get played. So disappointing! ):
A $45 fix from someone who spent hours diagnosing the problem and designing a 3D solution to not have to worry/waste time on this for the 12th time is well worth it IMO. I am going to buy one and will report back!
