    Is pin #2 connected to anything (i.e. is there a trace coming off the solder pad on the bottom of the board)? Pin #1 is high voltage. There is at least one display revision with an extra pin tied to GND, forgetting if it was at Pin #2 tho. Would have blown the high voltage fuse. Your issue may be a bad 4543.

    Actually if you plug a 6-digit display into a 7-digit player position it will cause other displays to go wonkey. The 6-digit can only be used as the credit display in games with 7-digit displays for the players.
