I’d say the rules are shallower, but not by much. You’re basically collecting monsters/items by repeatedly hitting shots to get to the wizard mode on both games, but MB has a bonus type round for each monster collected while SS has two, more distinct multiballs. The spider wheel adds some strategy though to SS. Both are a lot of fun (need more humor like this back in pinball) and shooters, but most decent players will get tired of playing them regularly.
