Quoted from hAbO:Finally got around to shopping out my SS and GnR that I finished last weekend. Here is a few pics. I'm loving the ColorDMD in this tittle. First ColorDMD and I'm impressed however its a tad expensive. Super easy to install.

Wow!!! I gotta get those colour dmd's.....
Though I understand this club was originally conceived to share info and facts about SS exclusively, I'd just like to share with all the link to my pinballowners page: http://www.pinballowners.com/amendes
Does anyone also has a pinballowners page?
Quoted from Honch:I agree, it looks beautiful.
Very nice.... also love the mirror blades... for mine I installed blue lightning inside-arts... I'll share some pictures by the weekend!
PS: Could you share the art of those cards?
Quoted from Aurich:Those are mine, you can print them from this PDF:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/227626/Shared/scared-stiff-cards.pdf
Yeah, those are awesome..... Thanks man!
Quoted from scootie:Been having problems with the Spider Hole kick-out not making it to the upper ramp. I've replaced everything on the mechanism itself including the weldement at this point. I've tried aligning it from the bottom, but it seems real touchy. If I push the ramp to the right just a little it makes it every time. I don't see any easy way to hold the ramp in that location. Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks in advance.
Maybe you should adjust the ball popper.... Just a thought....
Quoted from spfxted:Rio??...I'll bring her myself!
Wow, I appreciate.... My only concern is that the contents of the basket arrive undamaged!!!!
Quoted from Ed209:Ship it legs on.
Man... since I can't see on the picture the bottom of the basket, I could almost swear she's sitting inside of it... Now I think I'm gonna have unpleasant dreams....
Quoted from Ed209:Avoid the movie Boxing Helena then. :p
Just downloaded.... I guess this one could be easily hosted by the Mistress of the Dark herself!
I've been after one of these keychains for so long, but I just refuse to pay 99 bucks for it, as some ask on ebay....
Quoted from TunaSled:Finally (and proudly) in the club. I'm glad I waited, I got my fine example for not much more than I almost paid for an extremely well-played one. My grail found me.
ss3.jpg
Unpleasant dreams!
Quoted from Honch:Nice work. I don't think there is a better looking pin than SS.
Definitely not!
Quoted from Aurich:No way in hell would I sell Flash Gordon over Scared Stiff. I love my Scared Stiff, but gameplay wise Flash Gordon is the far superior game. Play it all the time still, it's going nowhere.
Beg to differ... SS is TOPS, none can beat it!
Quoted from BumperMcBaulhogh:Has anyone here added a shaker motor to their SS? I read somewhere that it could be done. Just curious if it's worth it.
On the note above: I would sell a FG over SS simply because FG is easier to come by with less crazy turnaround price hiking. That being said, I won't sell my SS "ever" because it was a birthday gift from my wife.
Sorry, but why in hell would anyone install a shaker motor in SS !?!?!?!?
Quoted from Coyote:I remember playing a sample down in the showroom of Greater Southern, and having it actually kick back.
So, my apron has the kickback hole... does every SS's original apron also have it?
Well, fact is that by installing this "mod", when removing the posts and putting the new lane guide for the "kicked-back" ball, it will be a whole lot easier to lose the ball when it goes toward the left outside lane and the spell isn't cast!
Quoted from pinnaf:FINALLY got my SS
I was thinking about adding the plasma mod to the lab area (I have one in my TZ and its pretty cool)
1. does anyone have one and what do they think of it
2. are you able to wire it up with the clips to light points that make it ONLY light up when "shoot to the lab" or the lab lights are going off. I don't think I want it on all the time...... its neat but a little distracting
lastly... TOPPER IDEAS? has anyone done something creative? would love to see some pix
thanks and count me in with the group
I got the plasma mod (it remained constantly lit during the game), then it got hit by a ball flying over the ramp and guess what happened? Later I'll post some pics!
Yeah, I tried to sound activate my plasma mod as well (it has a switch), but it stays on all the time as well
Quoted from pindan3:Of course no game room would be complete without SS or MB a great pair!20151128_095747.jpg 20151128_095742.jpg 20151128_095645.jpg
Now you're just showing off....
Quoted from pindan3:Just a loyal member of the Scared Stiff Club! LOL
Nah.... I'm just jealous because I ain't got myself a MB.....
Quoted from Sethman:what are our options for slingshot plastics at this point? I have a set of the Euro ones but man are they painted like crap and don't resemble bones whatsoever
Aurich what are you doing with the molds!?!? Are you going to put them to good use and make us color appropriate replacements?
I think I can help y'all.... my "made in brazil" SS slingshot repros are great! I'll check if they are still available!
Here are some pics of the repro slingshot covers I acquired a couple of years ago.... Still checking whit the guy who made them if more can be produced!
12208588_524900414347422_2788962371656343371_n.jpg12190888_524900411014089_2050254630619749786_n.jpg12227715_529623237208473_6445890363092392662_n.jpg
Quoted from Aurich:Ha, in a hearbeat. Are you kidding? Shadow is one of the best games ever made. Scared Stiff is a beautifully executed theme with wonderful art and callouts and atmosphere, and really mediocre gameplay.
What a disappointment.....
Quoted from thall17:The repro slings I got weren't even close to the original color...I mean not even close....
Mine are way much better.... material and colors... too bad the guy doesn't make them anymore....
Quoted from yzfguy:Man...I want my coin door to look like that.
Yeah man, it is so cool! The best mod EVER for a SS!
Quoted from Lermods:Installed a lit up ghost yesterday...looks like he's floating above pf.
20151227_124627_(resized).jpg
Mine floats above EatPM!
It ain't termites.... PF and cabinet were well treated against this plague and no dust or powder of any kind were ever seen... At the other side of the PF there ain't any marks.... Yesterday I did a full search and that's the only place where I spotted these holes... I wonder why it took me so long to notice'em (acquired the machine in 2010).... I'll have a word with the restorer to check if he remembers something about it....
Quoted from Rum-Z:Those holes are for two anti-bounce back bars (that's what I call them) that some Scared Stiffs were equipped with. There's actually 4 holes in total. The two holes that are on the remote control graphic as shown in your photo, and one under the left flipper, and one under the right flipper. The holes under the flippers are not the 2 flipper alignment holes.
My Scared Stiff is equipped with these anti-bounce back bars and so is my Totan. These bars are designed to keep the ball from bouncing off the apron and back into play. They prevent you from doing "bang-backs" as well. I presonally would rather not have the anti-bounce back bars intstalled and just have those holes, as when I get a ball coming like a rocker back down the bat ramp, sometimes it'll go SDTM and bounce straight up off one of those bars and actually smack the playfield glass. I hate that. I'm sfraid to push them out of those mounting holes you show (they simply press fit in) as I'm afraid the playfield graphics will chip around the hole.
So don't worry, those holes are factory issue, and to my knowledge every SS has them. I suppose if someone was going to do a playfield restoration and a touch-up and clear, they may remove them. Is there anyone here with an unrestored playfield that lacks these holes??
Wow, thanks for the explanation.... Can I ask you to please post pics of your machine?
Quoted from Rum-Z:Sure Amendes. Check back in a couple of hours. I'll take a couple of pics of that area when I get home from work and post them here.
Edit: Hey Amendes, I found one picture that I posted earlier in this thread showing an early production apron that my machine has. In this picture you can see the right anti-bounce back bar. You can see it mounts in the holes you were questioning.SS_anti-bounce_back_(resized).jpg
Yeah, got it! Thanks!
My EatPM and my TotAN also have these anti-bouce back bars.... I just took another look at my SS and I could only spot the holes on the remote control, there are no holes under the flipper bats...
BTW, that early production aprons with the spiders are great. Someone was selling these stickers (just the spiders) at ebay a few years ago, but shipping to Brazil was too expensive.
Quoted from thall17:I like it a lot! Any pics of it on a game?
No... I was thinking the same....
Quoted from yzfguy:I also think the top corners of the legs need to be removed from the image.
hehe.... I haven't noticed....
BTW, that speaker panel is being made by a friend of mine... he asked for my opinion and I decided to share it here.... I'll pass on these feedback!
Quoted from Cheese_WizardPQ:I would by one right now!!
I'm thinking about ordering one for me, but I guess it's coming quite costly (about US$ 150.00 + shipping)!
Quoted from yzfguy:Is it listed for sale?
Nope, the speaker panel is being made by a friend of mine here in Brazil.
Quoted from yzfguy:So where did $150 come from ?!
His price! - He ain't got a webstore....
Quoted from yzfguy:Aaah. I missed hat it was a local deal. If he sold them for 1/3 that amount, he could probably sell quite a few.
I see, but unfortunately, here in Brazil this is the price.... BTW, here's an updated version!
Quoted from dar8dar:These were taken in lower level game room with no windows and lights on colors match well buy them you won't be disappointed
How's your backboard panel?
Quoted from visi0n:Aye, some friends and I were discussing the games with some of the coolest ramps and Tron came up, so the idea was born out of that..
This is what I used / did:
amazon.com link »
I like the waterproof because the coating makes them a little more substantial. I used one of these in the backbox (I think mezel had it in stock) : http://www.dkpinball.com/DKWP/?page_id=653
I bought some extra molex connectors and pins from mezel, too - and cut the DC side of the power supply from the LED kit - used just the cable - and installed the molex. I created a molex extension connector running from that power tap in the back box to the crate upkicker coil bracket and mounted the control box for the LED's to that coil bracket with a ziptie. So the connection path is:
PowerTap ->speaker swire with molex->DC cable from LED power strip box (w/ another molex)->to mini plug that goes into the white control box for the LEDs.
I fished the LEDs up through the base of the boney beast (lots of playfield holes to work with under these plastics, and the beast's head hides some of the cabling) - and just wiretied the LED's at every spine junction.
I think the whole thing took me, maybe an hour? It wasn't bad at all - and well worth it. When I installed the Pinbits EL wire kit on my Tron pro a couple years back - that seemed harder and I had the kit!
I like those LED's too b/c you can change the colors to suit your taste and it will recall your settings on next power up.
Also, when I made the molex from that power tap, I created a splitter to power a cointaker / mindorbits shooter rod.
Good luck to all the Stiffies out there..
Pics?
Quoted from Whitewater:Hi guys
I just joined the club. What an awesome game...I just love her voice!
Does anyone know where I can buy this illuminated topper. Looks like laser cut polycarbonate ?
Welcome, but.... do you really dig this topper???
Quoted from GAP:Scared Stiff withe Elvira Slime.
Gee.... I don't know.... that slime green may fit well with GB but.... it's a little far from the cabinet and inside-art colors...
Quoted from stpcore:It's been a while since we had any action here so I thought I would humbly ask to join the club as I acquired a Scared Stiff recently! Machine is BEAUTIFUL (cabinet, playfield, etc.) and I uploaded a video (link below) of the home made Boney Beast LED mod that really changes the playfield. Pinsider Visi0n inspired me to do this after he had shared his idea with me and for $15 it's one of the coolest mods you can do to your SS. I've also attached a few pics...LOVING THIS MACHINE.
https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=nHAb1UWEkKg
Super Cool! I'll do the same with mine!!!!
Life's short so from now on I'm gonna mostly stick to the club threads.... too many dickheads around here on pinside and I've got better things to do rather than waste my precious time!
Btw, love my SS!

Quoted from yzfguy:Then do us all a favor and refrain from wasting your precious time by posting blanket insults aimed at the entire group. I think you need to have your meds re evaluated, you were a contributor up until a few days ago when you went off the deep end.
I just sent you a PM. If you want to say smthg to me, please, PM me... no need to share with anyone else.
Quoted from jmkieli:Happy to be addicted to this game !
I gotta get me a color dmd... Unpleasant dreams...!
Quoted from 30FathomDave:Okay, here are a couple pics of the skull pile being used as a topper:
Cool! Kinda big, huh?
Quoted from tonycip:I like the speaker covers. where did you get them? thanks
They were custom painted by the restorer...
Quoted from 30FathomDave:I dig it, but I think it would look cooler if it were a few inches shorter and a few inches wider.
Agree!
Quoted from stpcore:I'm in the same boat. I saw a side by side comparison of LCD vs LED at Expo and the LED seemed much more vivid and authentic to me. That said is SS supported for LED yet?
http://shop.colordmd.com/led-replacement-display-for-scared-stiff-pinball-machine/
Quoted from Flato:I've got the lcd it looks great.
Quoted from Sethman:Have the LCD version in mine using DotXL mode and it looks great!
Well, placed the order today for the LED dmd! Now let's wait a month or two to arrive (damn customs)
Quoted from stpcore:I'm in the same boat. I saw a side by side comparison of LCD vs LED at Expo and the LED seemed much more vivid and authentic to me. That said is SS supported for LED yet?
BTW, congrats for the championship and GO DODGERS!
Installed the LED DMD on my SS... Super easy to install, I did it in a few minutes!
As most people are reporting, yes, it is super f*** bright!!! Now I got to find out how to tune it according to my taste... does anyone know where do I get some instructions to do it? Please, advise!
Also noticed that some transitions are not ok, especially when not at game-play, when I could pay more attention... sometimes a colored animation begins in white, and it takes a few time (less than a second), to turn into the proper color!
Anyway, this is my first colordmd and I'm happy with it.... Waiting for the updates on the rom to correct these minor transitions faults!
PS: The colordmd staff colored the eyeballs blue, while I got all my BG and PF eyes as green (also my custom shooter rod).... Now off to change some lamps... (at least the lighting changes are easier)!

I posted here before..., gotta search the old posts..... the brazilian repros are the best!!!
Quoted from AlexSMendes:Here are some pics of the repro slingshot covers I acquired a couple of years ago.... Still checking whit the guy who made them if more can be produced!
PS: Unfortunately not available anymore....
Quoted from toyotaboy:I didn't want to step on Sparky's toes (I try not to overlap his projects since I supply his bezels), but he gave me his blessing.
I did do my own version of an LCD mod for a friend for this game
» YouTube video
Cool!!!
Quoted from MovieMark:Spider Wheel Question - Still curious to hear how long your Spider Wheel spins before auto-stopping on its own (that is, it stops on its own if you don't hit the Flippers). Mine goes consistently for 8 complete revolutions before auto-stopping and I'm thinking this must be the Factory Setting but would like confirmation from another Scared Stiff owner just in case my game is auto-stopping too soon. Thanks!
Man, I guess nobody else bothers.... I surely don't. For the record, when playing I let it spin maybe 3 times tops before hittin' the flippers, so just have fun and play the damn game!
Quoted from MovieMark:Thanks! I did a few upgrades (Dancing Boogie Men, Color DMD, new Backbox Plastic Art) and I'm probably being a bit too obsessive right now, but hey - it's pinball (and Scared Stiff no less!).
It's the best... EVER!
Wow.... US$ 5.5K for a faded cabinet retouched with markers, hum on speakers, multiple wear and scratches...?
Gee, I get envy because it's impossible to find an EM here in Brazil for the prices you americans pay... but please, I beg you guys, don't come down here or else you will take ALL our 90's pins back to usa...
Quoted from toyotaboy:The floating eyeball looks cooler. I've made a couple of these in the past by epoxing it to a chrome closet door knob that's been drilled out to press a blank shooter rod into
» YouTube video
I had a couple of these but not the ones with lights inside.... with time the eye-balls stopped floating as perfectly as when new...
Quoted from Allibaster:After waxing the playfield and cleaning the ramps, I'm getting a couple airballs off the bat ramp after a fast clean shot. Not too often, maybe once every 5-10 games.
Anyone else have this problem? Anything I can do about it?
I do get lotsa air-balls from the bat ramp... More than your average...
Quoted from 30FathomDave:Why's that?
*edit* Never mind. Just realized you were responding to the previous post. I thought maybe Starship was closing up shop.
I actually need a new ramp... and I'm seriously considering a full playfield swap on my SS.
Quoted from cycochris:my SS is coming with another playfield in good condition so i will be doing that also. not done that before
Anyone considering selling an old SS playfield?
Did you guys know that, when stiff-o-meter is on, if you go thru the secret passage you collect one stiff?
Quoted from boogieman:Didnt know that. 'tis a tricky shot though...
Well, I only get secret passage by accident and I guess it's pretty much the same with everyone... So, if it wasn't for an accident, I would never know that either!
Quoted from Lockenick:Finally getting around to posting this, Check out the birthday cake my friend had made for me for my birthday last month! It was even a wedge shaped cake to give it a proper playfield angle.
What did he use as the translite?
Quoted from weaverj:is it normal that SS plays music at the wrong time? for example, i'll get the end of game music sometimes during ball 3.
Never saw it happen...
Quoted from weaverj:could a game rom get corrupt?
I think it can... it's easy and cheap to change it for a new.... maybe you should try!
Quoted from stpcore:I'm in the club for a second time. This time I went all in with a Bryan Kelly restored HUO Scared Stiff with clearcoated playfield. Couldn't be happier! Great to be back in the club
I am yet to figure out why you guys drool so much about these brian kelly and hep restores when these guys can't even match the coin-door paint jobs with the cabinet colors...
Quoted from stpcore:Bryan_Kelly didn't paint the coin door (it was an aftermarket add-on). If that's that reason you can't understand or appreciate what goes in to a high end restore then you're missing the point in my opinion...
Dude, ALL of my pins have gone through complete cream-of-the-crop restorations! Anyway, I strongly suggest you get a correct paint-job on your coin-door...
Quoted from stpcore:I'm not sure why you have to publicly criticize Bryan_Kelly or High_End_Pins on their restoration work because of a paint job on an aftermarket coin door that they didn't paint? It makes zero sense to me. This is a SS owners club. Not sure why you feel to need to bash a couple of the more well respected restore specialists in this community?
And I'm not sure why everyone gets so offended about that.. It's an SS club and I'm just saying that this coin-door does not live up to the "reputation" that you americans say about these restorers... btw, in your original post, you did not mention that bk didn't paint the coin-door, right?
Quoted from MovieMark:Just discovered that there's an App for the iPad/iPhone called "Elvira's Scared Stiff" by FarSight Studios that provides a recreation of the game - if you need to check or compare an operation or function of your game against another having this is an easy and great way to do it (has the Spider Wheel and everything - no Color DMD or Dancing Boogiemen though!).
It offer a free play mode with limited time so you don't have to purchase anything if you don't want to.
Well, better late than never, huh?
Have you ever heard about Pinball Arcade?
Quoted from spfxted:Yeah, I couldn't find it either.
I ordered a couple of Gory Eyeballs and they came in today. Maybe I'll try to rig something up myself.....
Where did you get those?
Quoted from Whitewater:I love my scared stiff and I don't have dancing boogies. I find them annoying but it is nice to have the option
You can make every modification and install many mods you want, but a SS without dancing boogeyman will never be complete!
Quoted from ThatOneDude:Out of curiosity, how much to the old, unrestored playfields normally sell for?
100 bucks! I'm buying one!!!
Quoted from ThatOneDude:For that price, buy 2.
So let me rephrase: "100 bucks. I'm buying, who's selling?"
Quoted from ThatOneDude:I can say, with a bit of pride, that I managed two Monster Multiballs in a single night a few months back. It was epic.
Of course, this was after more than a month of a dry spell, so there is that.
Hmm.... In a 5-ball game, it's not unusual for me to achieve 2 Monster multiballs on a single game...
Yes, my outlanes are tight and my settings are factory, except for an Extra-ball for replay AND 1 buy-in option (why not? It's free-play anyway!).
Oh my record score is past 69 million!
Are you following me pinrob? You never posted on this thread!!! Guess you're a bit jeaulos, huh? Well, mine was way cheaper!
Guys, I need some help here, please.... Does anyone know the name or the part-number of that rubber piece for the boogeyman slingshot, and if possible, where can I find it? I'd really appreciate!

Awesome! Thank you very much!!!
Quoted from spfxted:Changing lamps is hard!
Sometimes it really is.... how many times I screwed sthg up that had nothing to do with the lamp I was trying to change....
Quoted from arcademojo:Heck my buddy has owned his EBD for 15 years and never knew how to take the lockdown bar off until I showed him 3 months ago. You're way ahead.
A couple of months ago I sold two pins (JY and Hurricane) to a guy who already owned another two pins (JM and the other one I can't remember)... Anyway, (and I swear to god), he asked me how to turn the machines on...
Quoted from BioBa:You only can get the red ones. Blue ones are not available at the moment.
Never seen SS' red bumper caps.... pics?
Quoted from whthrs166:Do you any of guys know if Stern is going to do Elvira III this year?
Quoted from whthrs166:Just wonder if any of you guys have any Monsters in Monster’s Lab? I did this little mod with a couple of extra pop tops on the jets. I took a wood dowle and screwed it the tops so boogiemen would fit on the dowles that way the jump when hit the jets. It works really nice and dont need any glue to hold them on.
When it comes to modding SS,there are no limits, huh?
Quoted from whthrs166:There are always limits. So are you saying I stepped over the line?
Dude, no! Wow, please, chill.... I even posted a pic of my also fully modded machine!!!
Quoted from Alan_L:it has slight differences in the playfield graphics: a different face on #3 of the Stiff-O-Meter and some other slight changes.
Pics please!
