Question

On left and right side of coin door there are lock plates to secure the coin door with a bar… were those factory installed from nib or added to mine?

Everyone I see has them or bolts there if cab is original. I was bummed about it when I bought it but think this was factory. Lmk

Pretty sure they were factory. I removed mine, painted the bolts & reinstalled.

Since 3 weeks I also own an Elvira II again.
So far, everything works well. Except for 2 switches:

No. 25 (Extra Ball) and the left Deadheads.
About test menu it looks good. In the game they are not registered 1 out of 10 times. I have already replaced them and soldered everything. Do you have any other ideas?

Working on a Scarred Stiff / Elvira Gulp, beverage caddy. Thought I would share one of the prototype with you all. The gray is a bit too light on this one, and I need to figure out a better method to get the words on cause it’s a pain.

On the contrary, I think that the darker gray would be a good contrast to the light gray. As for the text, you could just leave it off; looks good the way that it is, in my opinion. If you are selling these, when will they be available and how much are you going to ask for them?

#4105 1 year ago

Good points GKW and yes I kinda agree, the detial is so awesome as it is. I am selling them for 85.

I think I like just the figure without the base and add the wings. Going to create a wood base with holes for her pegs and do skull candle holders on each side maybe.

+1 on your thoughts.
Best without base, and have wings on.

Anyone here install the Pinwoofer sound kit. If so, is it much better than stock? J

Why does Elvira have wings? This sculpt is done well but always confused me. Elvira isn't a vampire.

Have it in mine. Sounds good and thumps bass. Wish I could do a shaker.

#4112 1 year ago

Making a topper. Base is black with grey crate for background and black letters spelling this out like the cabinet. S will be red then will have cross boards and hand paint out do not open and danger! Have to do white marks like cabinet.

Gonna be kick ass when done. Lot of work.

Need something on each side I’m thinking short gothic candles. May do some lighting behind her for the board.

Hey all
Interested in adding this machine to my collection - is there a post or website that lists every call-out in the game?

#4117 1 year ago

Hey all if anyone is interested I have two of these that where made and the buyers went MIA. I'll discount them instead of 85+shipping I'll do 78.00 shipped.
Cheers!

@beltking, your topper is awesome! I know that it must have been time consuming but, I'll bet you would have a ready market if you decided to make and sell some of those.

I read and enjoyed your profile story, about how you got into pinball. Your journey into pinball (which begins earlier than my own) is very similar to mine. You may be interested to know that my first LE purchase was from another one of our Pinside Community members, living in North Canton (super great guy!).

Your current collection is drool worthy and your tastes run nearly identical to my own.

Well done done on amassing such an outstanding collection and really well done on your creative talents, making such a cool topper!

Thanks. I run two businesses so not a lot of time to make mods so just do it for myself. Took a long time to make them and would be hard to ship. Prob why toppers are plastic and smaller.

Hi,
Some news from the old continent (from Switzerland Audiofreak and Poland @JarekC).
Scared Stiff with modification of color PIN2DMD + HDMI Hat + LCD Apron.
Unfortunately, not mine, but the design of the PIN2DMD HDMI Hat module is my own.
The display used is an 8.8-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1920x480.

The set consists of four elements:
-8.8" IPS 1920x480 display - you can buy it yourself on Aliexpress
- Tang Nano 9k module - you can buy it yourself on Aliexpress (requires minor modification and uploading my software)
- HDMI-Hat base PCB - this is only available from me for now
- HDMI-Mini , USB cable - you can buy it yourself

Considering selling or trading my HEP restored SS if anyone is interested. It's still in perfect condition, no wear anyone since Chris restored it. I have more details on the restore if anyone is interested, Chris sent me a PM with the details it was one of his early jobs.

After turning on the machine, the coffin door will open and the game resets. I disconnected the coffin assembly coil plug and the game will boot. Going through the test menu and testing coils, the first test, auto-plunger, when actuated, causes the game to reset. Unplugged auto-plunger (coffin still unplugged) and went through coil test. When reaching Center Jet, it caused the game to reset. Disconnected center jet (along with previously mentioned coffin and autoplunger) and all of the remaining coils will fire in test mode.
This is not a board issue, as I have swapped out driver boards and get the same results. Chances of this being present on two boards, one being newly unpackaged, is highly unlikely.
Any ideas?

Most resets are caused by two things. A drop in 5 volt power from a failing driver board or flaky pins. Sounds like you have a pin issue. Any connections look toasty? They might just be fatigued too. I would replace anything that looks suspicious.

That’s an original cash flow door it was a true prototype that was once a test game on location. Probably some reason they used it. It’s been about 18 years ago.

As I stated, I used 2 different driver boards and one was fresh out of the package. I looked at the original board and didn't find anything burned or otherwise. I am suspecting a wiring problem or bad coils.

Actually, I have several. Topper, acrylic back panel, boney beast eyes. I was thinking that this might have something to do with it, but I was unsure. Upon starting the machine, I get Spider Motor error, for one, which I thought was odd, since everything there is new. Sorry that I didn't see your post earlier!

I disconnected every mod and I get the exact same results. Now, the voltage is low, because the coils that do work are firing very softly.

Have you measured any of the voltages? +50, +12r/ur, and +5?

#4143 1 year ago
Quoted from Coyote:

This will be forthcoming. After looking around, I got out the multimeter and tested the coils and diodes of the non-working ones. I found that all of the diodes were bad, cut the legs and tested the coils. The coils all checked good. I am going to look in the manual, to see if any of these coils need to have diodes. If they don't, I will not install any. Also, I plan to check all of the pre-drivers and other associated components for each coil. I need to figure out what caused all of this damage. Some of the non-working coils were working previously, so something is wrong.

#4144 1 year ago
Quoted from GKW:

I didn't discover until too late that WPC-95 machines don't require diodes on coils, since they are already installed on the driver board--DOH!
Clipped all of the diodes (7 of them), except for the coils with 3 lugs (both flippers and crate). Nearly everything works correctly now, with the exception of some switches, which are non-related. No damage to the driver board, thank GOD!
Finally! My machine is near completion and I can see the silver ball at the end of the tunnel!

I have a few lights not working. One set not working is the one for the 3 skulls at the top of the playfield. Only the middle light would work. I removed the lamp board and reflowed the solder. Turned the machine on and put into test mode. Turned on "all lamps," but the board that I just "fixed" wasn't working. Lifted the playfield and this is what I discovered in the far right socket. WTF?!! When I went to turn the machine off, this lamp started working!

Toasty one.

#4147 1 year ago

I took the board out and once again reflowed the solder. This time, I replaced the diodes. The board works, but this time the lights don't blink, they just flicker, just as if first gen LEDs are installed. I'm also having a weird problem with the 3-bank light board on the insert panel. These lights don't strobe, they just stay on. If I pull the connector to where it is just touching, the lights seem to operate correctly.
