Looks like Mirror is the way to go.....Thanks!!

Excellent! You’ll love ‘em!

They look particularly nice with chrome side rails. I saw a Metallica with chrome rails and mirror blades, and it’s jaw-dropping in person. Pictures don’t do it justice!

Got ya!
I asked Robert, the powdercoat guy about doing Cliffy's so we could have black or red ones for Scared Stiff. This is what he said.....

---Usually they anodize stainless. Cliffys can technically be powdercoated but it makes the tolerances on the wholes even smaller. Id look into anodizing. Its the best option on those. I may look into that in the future

Just joined the club after doing a full restoration including new playfield.
I have one problem with my coffin kick out. It is too powerfull and kicks the ball into the drain lane 50% of the time.
I am using the correct coil but see no way to tone it down??
Anybody has come across this?

Everybody knows that playing an intense game of pinball can be a draining experience.

Out of curiosity, how much to the old, unrestored playfields normally sell for?

So let me rephrase: "100 bucks. I'm buying, who's selling?"

Man that's one gnarly coil. You could always swap for a higher wound one or maybe SS uses the same coil elsewhere in the game and swap them. Another option could be the service bulletin released back in 1996 it's a fix to help with failed kick outs by adding a small washer. I did this and it worked a charm but was having problems with it not spitting out, not jumping out! And my last thought would be adding a spring to the skeleton flap thing, that might slow it down.

I know - normally everybody else had the opposite problem.
How can I tell by its number if an alternative coil is stronger or weaker. The more windings the weaker?

I'm pretty sure there is a chart. Yup, the more Wire turns the weaker. Another thought could be the upkicker plunger, maybe that's too long? Or you could try putting in a real dirty coil sleeve haha that usual slows it down.

I just finished a little dead head mod.
Led turns on inside the skull when the dead head light comes on.

#2616 6 years ago

Finally after 15 years of wanting one I can now join the club!!!!!!!!! It's my 50th year birthday present to myself. It's a players game but still not too bad.

I found just the right size spider to go on the web of the side panel of the backbox. I really like that you can see it when playing the machine. Looks quite realistic as if there is a giant arachnid actually sitting there.
Now it only needs some glowing red eyes!

Cool, I got a scratch I need to cover and that spider is the perfect size. Where did you get it? Cheers

I found it at a Brisbane dollar shop for $5 lol.
If you want I can have a look if they have any more?

I have been looking everywhere for the blue pop bumpers caps and blue inserts. Only could find red ones.
Anybody know if there are some blue ones around?

Yes! How did you affix it to the cab?

Small strip of double sided tape. That way I can remove it without any marks. The newer types of double sided tapes are pretty awesome. Never anything comes off. I often use it for minor mods around the playfield too.

#2624 6 years ago

Got ya! Yeah, I was worried it might damage something if you try to remove it after years....

#2625 6 years ago

And here are it's glowing eyes.

kinda like it. i was thinking a little bit about running these halloween lights i have, too. they're just string lights like you have at christmas. not sure how i'd run them though.

#2627 6 years ago

Looks cool! Personally instead of taping it to the side of the head I'd probably use a white string that looks like a strand of web (or black if you want it hidden), connect that to the spider, then tape that thread to the top of the head and drape it over the side so that the spider rests on the side of the head without actually sticking to it.

Do you mean that the spider would hang off the string on the side?
I positioned the spider there because there is a spider depicted on the decal at that spot.

Put 2 spiders...one on each side connected with the "web" ...drape across the top and they would balance each other.....no tape!

Yeah hang it off the side, position it over the existing spider decal then tape the string up top on the head.

That's an even better idea Maybe still put one piece of tape anyways in the middle of the string on the head so that the spiders don't potentially fall when shaking the game.

#2631 6 years ago

Yes, you're right. I never shake the game....

Was having problems with my right ramp. About 40% of the time the ball would fly off the ramp. Tried going with a 7.9 degree pitch on the playfield but still did it but less often. Ball would shoot out of the ramp and get stuck between the skull pile and side. Couldn’t figure out how to stop it so made my own little mod. It doesn’t look great but it works. No more rocket launcher balls.

#2635 6 years ago

hey, whatever works.

#2636 6 years ago

Yeah, it shouldn't happen....but if you fixed it...all good!

#2637 6 years ago

i have had a decent amount of success just flattening out the ramp entrance flap. it was curled up a bit, causing ball launches. a lot better now, but still have a few skull pile shots here and there.

My flap is pretty curved. Never thought of that. However if I can completely eliminate the air balls I’d rather have that.

#2639 6 years ago

Ok, you Scared Stiff fans. Any suggestions on what I can mount on my “air ball” protector on my spider ramp? I’m going to shorten it a few inches and shave down the sides to be exactly same size as the ramp. Goal is to completely eliminate air balls and use the plexiglass as a mounting shelf for something. I have a friend with a laser cutter so once I figure it out I can reproduce a few if others want one.

Two different ones came with the game. Not too pleased with the way they look at first glance but will spend some time on it later. Also need to get a new trunk decal. Right now I want to get the game tuned in.

#2642 6 years ago

I’ve only played this game a handful of times in my life. Love the theme, campy B movie horror humor and easy to understand rule set. Just got my best score on it last night. Yeah I know it’s not the greatest but still new to the game.

One other question. The “cast a spell” stand up targets on the left. What do they do when you complete them?

#2644 6 years ago

put some 3d bats on top of your airball guard. if you improve the mounting technique, i'd be interested.

I THINK (and I'm likely wrong) that it lights the left outlane 'kickback'.

Reminds me how much I suck at pinball lol, I've had the game for a while and 16 million is my top score. Still haven't completed the stiiff-o-meter.

That's ok. This is my 4th Scared Stiff machine and I only got through the Stiff o Meter once! Er, and yes, on 5 ball!

When ever I get a new game and in learning phase. I lower the outposts as tight as they can go and set the game to award extra ball for replay. Everything else is set to factory. Never do 5 ball because most games will switch all the setting to harder then the factory setting. You get more balls but it makes it harder to complete the goal.
Made it to Stiff-o-meter twice now but only got about halfway finished.

I like that idea since there are bats on the ramp. Dangit! My buddy with the laser cutter actually just traded his 3D printer for the cutter.
Will have to see what I can come up with.
