isolate the sound board from the backplain. Nylon washers.
I'm interested in joining the Scared Stiff club if anyone local to west MI is thinking of getting out...
Since the noise has continued even after going to new speakers/ and new AV board, the next place to look is power related? What are the usual suspects? Incorrect voltage leaking across and from where? Look at the power/driver board?
hmm... I'll disconnect and reconnect the ground at the back of cabinet (which I take it the back box strap is getting its ground from). I've already checked/reconnected the grounds near front of cabinet on the power interface assembly.
The buzz can come if your boards in your backbox are loose.Check to make sure all the mounting screws are snug down or if you have missing mounting screws. It can make a difference.
All mounting screws are present and snugged up. Just for completeness-sake I'll loosen and re-seat the other 2 boards tonight when I get home. Thanks guys for the suggestions, I really appreciate it, and hopefully can clear this up.
This question is for anyone who has installed the new Classic Arcades repro spider backbox plastic. How did you affix the new plastic to the backbox board?
The factory plastic seems to be glued on, but I haven't tried to remove it yet. Not sure if I need to use double stick tape or some other alternative for the new one.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm, maybe a ground loop? I actually had that problem in my car once with an amped setup. I know you can buy what are called "ground loop isolators" that you can wire in line and it can significantly reduce the background buzz or hum. Good luck with the troubleshooting, keep us posted.
Sorry it took awhile to get back to it. I revisited all ground locations, reseated all the boards, tried using nylon washers this time when mounting the AV board and still have the hum. I quite frankly don't know what else to do
I'll look into the "ground loop isolator" Dr-Tommy , thanks for the suggestion.

Figured it might be worth checking into if all else has failed. Here's some pleasure reading on it:

The isolators are like this:

Also maybe somewhere a ground wire is improperly grounded to a wrong location. This may be hard to spot since all ground wires will still be connected to something. Might be worth comparing your connections to the schematics.
Another possibility, maybe it's just some interference from the power board too close to one of the audio cables in the backbox?
Good luck troubleshooting, don't give up this is a great game to have working perfectly!
Could a fellow member put their game into test mode, specifically the sound + music test. Play Elvira's quote "You just don't listen do you" on repeat. Do you hear a nasty distortion/buzz coming from your speakers in the middle of that quote?
I do and was wondering if the sample is truly that bad that it happens on them all, or just mine.
Still diagnosing the electrical hum coming through speakers.
Thank you!
Can someone take a pic of the switch that the coin door hits when closed. I want to see what wires are going to it.
Quoted from spfxted:Got any 2xl?
Sorry, that was my last one. And I never had any 2XL.

Lol. Nice! I guess I need to get used to Elvira-themed puns now
(Hah! Android auto corrected 'puns' to 'pins'. Both are fitting here.)
Looks like they got re-listed:

Does anyone have one or make them?
Thank you in advance
I know that Pinbits sells the ramp flap. Theirs is slightly longer so it should work better.
Is that what you mean? Or do you want the under playfield assembly?
I posted this in its own thread, but I thought somebody in the club may be able to help:
I know that it may be a bit of a long shot, but does anybody have a left side bony beast ramp protector for a Scared Stiff machine? If not, I may have to make one, but I'd rather buy one if somebody out there has a spare.
Here is the part on Marco (it is out of stock):

Dude! That looks awesome! I'm totally doing that. Your wife did a great job. May I ask what kind of paint did she use?
