Have you heard anything more from this potential scammer?

    #52 2 years ago

If I would wire money, he doesn't want to deal with me.

Wouldn't let local pinside come by, wouldn't do an escrow service.

Repeatedly told me that wiring money was safe because I'm buying a product, "so it's not possible it's a scam".

    Very fishy

    Quoted from Zipofxul:

Was dealing with this guy for almost a week. He went dark after I suggested an escrow service, except that he told me I was not serious about buying the pins, and that I'm crazy for not just wire transfering the money.
He also tried to tell me I was trying to scam him by asking for his driver's licence, because I was going to try and pose as him and fraudulently sell pins.
I think some harassment is in order.
    Two emails I got from him are;
    glm@psles.com
    game.world1968@gmail.com
Phone he called me on is 612-500-0231, called me to tell me that since he was sending me a product there was no way he could be scamming me, and if I sent the money, the pins were on their way.
Lets let him know that pinballers don't like scammers

Yeah, no way he could be scamming you, lol. Yeah just send the cash and the games are being sent. Sure. Sounds great. He is really trying. The escrow account is brilliant. Can't really argue from either side on that, unless your a scammer.

    Quoted from rtotans:

Has anyone dealt with people from Minnesota ... Scam or no scam? The person I'm dealing with is Chris. I saw they had some ads on Craigslist.

OP, I see you are from PA, apparently using CL in MN.
Did you notice on CL they have some scam information?

    "Avoiding Scams

Deal locally, face-to-face —follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts.

Do not extend payment to anyone you have not met in person.
Beware offers involving shipping - deal with locals you can meet in person.
Never wire funds (e.g. Western Union) - anyone who asks you to is a scammer.
Don't accept cashier/certified checks or money orders - banks cash fakes, then hold you responsible.
Transactions are between users only, no third party provides a "guarantee".
Never give out financial info (bank account, social security, paypal account, etc).
Do not rent or purchase sight-unseen—that amazing "deal" may not exist."

Those are all great tips. vid1900 has a great guide about how not to get ripped off in pinball: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/how-to-not-get-ripped-off-in-pinball-vids-guide

If it comes to having to start a post titled "Scam or No Scam"; it is a scam, without even looking further.

No they actually advertised posted NY and Pa craigslist. Trust me I wouldn't be looking for a place 2000 miles away. As soon as I found out it was in MN 2000 miles away, I figured it would be fake.

    Quoted from rtotans:

He said he would give me 2 days to pay and if anything was wrong, I could send back right away with the driver right then

Drivers don't wait around while you unwrap, set up, and plug in a game.

They make you sign the BOL before you unwrap, then they bolt.

    Quoted from rtotans:

, and if I found out afterwards, the game was broken he would just deduct the money from what I owed. So basically I wouldn't have to pay for 2 days afterwards. who would want to do that?

    No one.

........and that is why it would never happen.

    Quoted from rtotans:

I just can't afford some of these higher more expensive games, and with him, it was doable.

Look at it this way, so you can put your mind at ease:

Even if this guy was offering games at normal market prices, they would be sold instantly, LOCALLY.

Any pin on CL that is even close to a normal price gets 100s of calls in the first hour.

A game that is anything like a deal is sold on the first phone call, literally within a minute of being posted.

    -

"Dude, there is a guy selling a 1967 Fastback Mustang for $10,000 down in TX. I'm sending him 1/2 and he's shipping it up to me!" says a guy at work.

"Uh, why wouldn't someone in TX just go and buy it?" says me.

"I dunno, it's been listed all week. He said he got a bunch of calls!" says guy.

"So with the simplicity of someone local just coming and giving him cash in hand and driving it away, he has chosen to sell it to you, shipping it 1000 miles away? Does that make any sense to you?????" says me.

"Dude, you sure know how to knock the wind out of somebody's sails...." says guy.

"You owe me dinner" I say.
