I'm working on retheming a pin and was wondering if anyone has sanded down a PF to bare wood and where the inserts were flat again (They are cupped) and then doing the artwork/clearcoating.
Sure would be nice to not have redo the inserts. I'm thinking I can make up a few thousandths with clearcoat also.
    Thoughts?

There are multiple re-theme threads on here where the OPs did exactly that, with one exception, you have to fill cupped inserts with 2PAC to level them, you don't sand the PF down to the level where the cupping goes away, that would take too much material off!

I'll hunt for those threads. TY

if you have the whole playfield stripped already, you can pretty easily take out the inserts and get new ones to put in as well.

vid has a guide in his playfield restoration thread that goes over how to take out inserts that will probably be helpful to you
