So after recently joining the club, I had a question for existing or past members...with the Candy 2000 game - is it just down to luck, or is there a trick to picking the right code? I have the list of codes (DOG, KEY etc) but it seems impossible to get even close to picking one as they go by so fast.

Thanks...I’ll give it a try.

Quoted from oyvindmo:

I just discovered that there is now quite a bit of Safecracker tournament gameplay available, thanks to IEPinball's INDISC 2019 coverage. Quite interesting to watch, and I came away with a realization of two things: 1) I really need to rebuild/tune my pop bumpers, and 2) I need to try playing with the settings they used, as it seemed more interesting than stock.
Adjustments/settings at INDISC (taken from tiltforums):
A.2 04 Starting bonus x at 2x
A.2 10 FIRST WHEEL POS changed to LIGHT LOCK
A.2 13 Vault JP allowed - NO
A.2 19 CONTINUE CHOICE changed from NO to YES
A.2 20 RANDOM KNOB NUMS changed from YES to NO
A.2 21 Max token payout
Left inlane disabled.

What does the setting A.2 21 max token payout do? I am putting mine in a tournament and wanted to disable the tokens altogether. Any implications for scoring?

Have you tried cleaning it?
What does switch test show when you manually put a ball across it (quickly and slowly)?

Quoted from hlaj78:

Having a little trouble with the kickback opto on the ramp assembly. It works fine when the ball is traveling slowly, but not so much when traveling at medium or high speed. Any ideas how to get it to register more reliably?

Has anyone bought the Mirco playfield and have any thoughts on the quality etc? Installed it yet?

Quoted from DK:

Does anyone have any of these Safecracker tokens? I have a few extras I would trade towards:
-Silver Safe coin
-Safecracker Exploding
-Satellite Dish
-Candy 2000
-Timer
-Sleeping Guard
-TOKEN pin
-Prototype coin (I know this one is tough to find)
Not looking for repro ones. Shoot me a PM if you got any to trade or sell. Thanks!

How can you tell the repro ones from the original ones?

#420 3 years ago
Quoted from DumbAss:

Those TPFs are reproductions. You can tell a reproduction by looking at the "SAFECRACKER" side. Originals will have the "Bally" logo. Reproductions will not. I made a bunch of NW Pinball and Arcade Show tokens and due to copyright issues that "Bally" logo cannot be used.

Except there were repros made by PPS I believe that copied the originas and had the Bally logo.

Guys, I’m currently installing my set of clear ramps and realised the coil from the ball launcher is going to stand out like dogs balls now, whereas the red ramp used to hide it somewhat. Any clever ideas on how to best disguise it?

reach out to mr_tantrum and come up with a decal he'll make it for ya....I did this on my high speed ramp

Thanks - he is happy to make up some sort of decal but would like an idea of what graphic to put there. Any ideas? I was thinking something similar to the playfield artwork but don’t want it to look hokey. Maybe that green pattern on the bottom lane guides? Or the cop on the playfield? Or the hand holding money on the playfield?
Here’s how it looks in the game nude:

Some cool suggestions thanks. I’m going to have to check on the how artistic he can get. I’m thinking for less work, the truck on the playfield could be quite good as it signifies movement and kind of fits the shape. The cop could also be good as he is at the entrance of the ramp when you go for the lock shot and appears on the DMD when the ball gets shot up to the lock. But it could be a bit repetitive seeing him twice (whereas the truck’s quite obscured)
I do like the pinball going into the safe idea also as well as the Cyber-dog from above.
Will chat to the guy and see what he thinks.

Guys, just putting my cabinet back together and not sure where this piece goes. Pretty sure it’s for organising coin door cables but can’t find any screw holes for it. Can anyone share a pic of where it goes? Thanks

Quoted from fossmin:

It goes on the top edge of the coin door over near the start button. It releases the switches when you open the door to kill the high voltage.

Many thanks!

Hey Safe Crackers...just doing a playfield swap and missing a pic - wanted to confirm this is the right post (circled). Is the section behind the lower right drops.

I have the same post without the washer.

Thanks - most of mine had washers on the old playfield - not sure they’re needed on the new Mirco playfield.

Hey, I’ve almost finished my playfield swap - can someone tell me if this plug has a partner? It has two wires going into each hole which tells me it maybe doesnt - with one of the wires coming from the backbox and one going to the playfield. But just want to be sure as my game isn’t booting up yet.
The plug is at the back right of the playfield.

I’ve just finished restoring my Safe Cracker with clear ramps and thought I’d show off the decals I asked Mr_Tantrum to design for me to hide the rightmost coil. One of the side effects of the clear ramps is you can obviously see everything under them and that coil just looked ugly.
He was absolutely fastidious when it came to measurements and such and there were many back and forth emails with me printing off examples and trying them for size. This paid off because when I applied them they were millimetre perfect.
Anyway, here’s the before and after shots. He has them for sale and I reckon they’d look great on the red ramps as well.

I agree conceptually Sonic - would you have a pinball instead of the bullet do you mean? Someone else on this thread mentioned a cannon I think. The gun works well as it’s the perfect shape. I’m really happy with it overall.
Mr_Tantrum is great to work with.

Anyone get any ideas on how to dress up the spinner lamp a little bit? Looks a bit cheap and nasty how it is.

I have been considering changing my cabinet hardware on my SC to brass. Anyone done this? Would love to see pics. I think it would look great!
Thanks

Haven’t seen one like that but agree it would look cool.
