Quoted from Cheeks:

All of the lights in the backbox game board are on all the time. Even during single lamp test, the entire board game is lit up, with no change when cycling through the individual lamps in test mode. Any idea what the problem is or what to check?

Anyone have any ideas of what I should look into for this?

@saintjonus Thanks so much for posting the PDF of Candy 2000 codes. I'm curious if this was curated by trial and error or if it came from looking at the source code. I'm just wondering if there might be more out there

Trying to complete a set of domestic tokens. Just need a few more:
1 Armored Truck
3 Burglar through Manhole
1 Dice
5 Dog
2 Guard Sleeping
1 Hand w/Safe dial
2 Hand w/Stop watch
I have antiqued, international and spare domestics to trade. PM me if interested in trading. Thanks!

Bump! Still looking...

Trying to help a local guy fix his safecracker with an error. On start up it has four bongs which according to the book is an S4 chksum error on the sound speech board. When he ran a test (as there is a credit dots) the screen says U4 checksum.

So I took that board home, was going to read the u2, u3, u4 and compare to what was on ipdb, however I only found a u2

I believe his code is 1.1 stated at start up.

All three sound speech chips have original looking labels of 1.0 , held on by Scotch tape which doesn't mean much.

If anyone has these three files and or has an idea it would be greatly appreciated.

Bump.

Anyone have any ideas of where I should start looking to fix this. Game is sorta unplayable at the moment.

It's your Lamp board. Likely either unplugged from the PDB (check all plugs on page 3-21 of the manual, save for the incoming GI circuits (Orange, Green, Violet)). If all plugs are seated on both boards, then you've lost your driver chips on your lamp board.

Thanks for the head start. I have a ColorDMD, which draws power via a jumper at J138. If I bypass the jumper (the Color DMD gets no power) and plug the lamp board cable in directly to J138, all is good. As soon as I introduce the ColorDMD power cable, all the lamps on the boardgame light. And now that I've started messing with it, the ColorDMD has gone out too. Hopefully it's just an issue with the cable.

The https://syndicate.casino/en-ca/casino/new was my first dabble into online gaming. I then migrated towards the known variety of games. But now I decided to try them again. The plus points for these big brands - is that you know they’ve enough money in the bank to pay you. I think they were slow in beefing up their online presence but that’s all changed or is changing. Who tried their hand there? What can you say about the games? Could you withdraw something or not?

Anyone looking for tokens? I believe I have international tokens, but I'd like to confirm before selling. I bought 5 of the Texas Pinball Festival tokens, and they appear to be the same size. I have complete sets of the different 20 tokens (Used), various loose circulated tokens, and new, sealed in the bag tokens.

I tried it but Peter's email didn't seem to work. But my friend got ahold of the S4 file and after burning a new one, his check sum error is now gone and working correctly. Thanks much!!

Having a little trouble with the kickback opto on the ramp assembly. It works fine when the ball is traveling slowly, but not so much when traveling at medium or high speed. Any ideas how to get it to register more reliably?

#369 4 years ago

Have you tried cleaning it?
What does switch test show when you manually put a ball across it (quickly and slowly)?

Safe Cracker day today folks - October 24th. Turn on your machines for the Easter Egg.

#371 4 years ago

I did clean the opto, but there wasn’t anything on it. When I run a ball over it at medium or slow speed, it does register. However, high speed balls almost seem to fly over and don’t register. I am thinking of bending the support bracket so that the opto comes up closer to the hole.

That's one place I've wanted to experiment with using an MRS instead of the opto - underneath the ramp - it seems to me it'd work better than an opto....but haven't tried yet....

Ok, thanks to another Safecracker owner, my 15 year quest is nearly complete.

I only need the following domestic tokens:

1 Armored Truck
2 Burglar through Manhole
1 Dice
1 Hand w/Stop watch

I have other domestics or internationals (3 for 1) to trade.

Pulled another HUO SC out of a basement in IA. There was a game room store that bought and sold a bunch of nib when wms clearanced them out. This one staying in collection. It had some acid dmg on cpu, shorted transistor and a couple of shorted coils. Came with 60 tokens. Been buying some of the small mods to do, ramp protector, coil cover, support rails. Need to get color for it and would like some hinged brackets for the wings.

Brand new member of the club this weekend! What an unusual, innovative game this is. I had actually never played it before making a deal for one. But I had read enough about it, and I knew this was different than anything out there. So far, I'm pleased with the way this plays. Such a creative, outside-the-box pin with a clever mini playfield and decent video/gameboard. To me, this feels like what Baby Pac-Man was going for. It's too bad this didn't catch on better. I understand the plan was for more versions of these mini magic token games. I wish we'd been able to see what was next.

I do have a perplexing issue, my magic tokens will not dispense. I have an error warning at power up, which says something like "check left token mech" and "check right token mech". When I try the "dispense token" in the test mode, it doesn't do anything. I examined the token tubes and mechs, and they look fine. About 100 tokens in each tube, and they seem in place. All the wiring looks well soldered and the plugs appear secure.

Any ideas? Are there any common issues with the token dispenser? That's the only notable issue with this game, it plays very well. It just won't dispense tokens, which is a key feature!

I appreciate any responses!

mine did this same thing too when I got it , I think moving this game , head down etc.. can cause switch errors for the coin mech. if you go back a few pages you can find my posts & how it was remedied , basically run it through switch test WITH COIN DOOR CLOSED or switch depressed , do that a couple of times & see if it doesn't clear

Thanks very much for the help! I don't know what the issue was, but I removed the two coins in the bottom of the mech, moved the lever back and forth to make sure it was free and no coins were stuck, and then I simply reset the settings to factory and the credit dot went away. Played a game and won a token and out it came, down the glass. First time I've ever seen that in action, pretty awesome feature.

Per the seller it was working fine before it traveled, so you are very likely right, moving these can cause switch errors even without any major issue. Glad it's all working 100% now. Thanks again.

I'm always shocked how many Safe Cracker owners either do not have them or have never heard of them - they are not a mod or a 'nice-to-have' for SC owners - they are an absolute necessity........

Hey guys - just making a repro part announcement. We began making repro MRS' (as found in SC - there are 3 - in fact, 1st pin to have them) in mid-2019 - but only announced on the RFM page (they are handmade and didn't want to get overwhelmed with orders). We've been branching out more to other pin clubs that utilize this crazy unobtanium switch....the MRS stands for Magnetic Reed Switch - and they are also found in CV, NBAFB, NGG, SWEP1 and CC ...they went unobtanium half a dozen years ago or so - so my partner and I at M&M Creations decided to remake them. Our MRS is plug/play - it is lighter, thinner and more sensitive (which we've found is key when playfields have clear-coats applied!) than the original MRS. You can see a pic of the repro MRS solo and in a lineup with an original Williams MRS, a Sega MRS (used in Maverick, Space Jam and SW:Trilogy) and a repro M&M Creations MRS. My wait list was caught up recently and time to help more folks...just PM if interested!

Just ended a single game with 7 tokens. Made it into the vault (1 coin) and then I played VAULT multiball and hit the ramp 5 times (5 more coins) and then made it back into the vault one more time (1 coin).

I have never done that before. I thought VAULT multiball only gave you three more tokens max. Did I do something different this time or is my memory failing me?

BTW, what everyone's max coins in a single game? Mine was 3 previously.

#394 3 years ago

I had two complete sets and sold one of them along with my machine last year. They come up occasionally, but I have not seen one in a while. I think the international full sets are easier to come by than a full domestic set. Other than a slight size difference, I never understood why the domestics where so much more expensive per coin than the international. Both sets worked on my machine without adjustment. Good luck!

So check out this douche move. I was on ebay today looking for a right ramp. There is a seller there "pinballparts", who sells both the clear and red ramps for safe cracker. I reached out to him and asked if he only sold the right ramp and if he was the manufacturer. He responded "Thank you for contacting us. We do not manufacturer this item. The ramps are only sold as a set on eBay. We have very limited stock left and it was a 1 time production run based on the unique red color. As mentioned in our listing, consider this your only opportunity to purchase replacements". I responded "hmm hard sell". A few minutes later I attempted to purchase them, only to get a " the seller has blocked any bids from this ebay member" or something to that effect. So I'm like WTF, shoot off another email to ask why this was so. No response. I checked the listing about an hr later , and he raised the price 100.00 to 350.00...people suck....

#398 3 years ago

Starship Fantasy sells both SC ramps for $259. They are the mfg and stand behind their products.
