I was finally able to spend about 3 hours shooting a Rush Pro tonight at The Pinball Lounge in Oviedo, Florida. Although Rush is my favorite band, I really wanted to give an objective point of view on the gameplay, theme aside. The Pro I played did not have any plunge issues whatsoever, whether it was manual or auto. I thought the shots were nice and flowing and was happy that each flipper had it's own "set" of available shots and that a couple of shots could be hit with either flipper. None of the shots were overly tough and the "through the pops" left orbit shot seemed a bit easier to me than Iron Maiden or KISS. I was pleasantly surprised that the dead end shot returned the ball to the right flipper instead of SDTM, and the Time Machine front release returned the ball to the flippers 98% of the time as opposed to a SDTM. One of the coolest features was the scoop having 4 (left inlane, left flipper, right flipper, right inlanes) different exit trajectories instead of just 1. Knowing when but not where the scoop will eject the ball is a welcome change. The 3 instrument drop targets and the 4 individual R-U-S-H stand up targets were a refreshing change on the pro, unlike the single bar stand up that is prevalent on other pros (Munsters Lily for example). I really think that regardless of theme, most players will like that actual gameplay of this pin. I think the metal/plastic ramp combo also worked well with this pin. All the shots on the pro were satisfying and I think the dead end shot might be the only shot that could be considered a dud. Also kind of cool is the pro I played tonight is one of the few that made it out of the factory before the translite and right side artwork of Geddy's bass were corrected. I think despite the initial groaning about theme, all you who purchased one will be pleasantly surprised with how well this pin shoots.
