Gryszzz… This song kicks ass! The drum beat…ridiculous. The energy, the riffs, the lyrics.

These guys were ~ 23 years old when this song was written and recorded. Think about that.

Anyone old enough to remember these ? I’m on the hunt for these were ,they were very unique back in the late 70s- early 80s.

Those would be cool in the game somewhere!

#2657 2 years ago

The sound effects sounded very steampunk and on point for the game and band. The scoop eject beep was actually great as it was quite unique no matter what else was going on, and at times there was a lot! This is super useful for playing but not great for listening

Converts a high-level signal (woofer terminals) to a low-level signal (the sub input), and is a BALUN. The pin's amp is a 'balanced' output and a the sub's input is likely 'single-ended' (i.e. unbalanced), and a BALUN (BALanced to UNbalanced) eliminates the balanced to single-ended issue. Prevents ground loops too. basically just an audio transformer.
Meant for car stereos, where someone wants to hook up another amp and subs, but the car stereo doesn't have a 'line out' connection. Perfect for this application too.
[quoted image]
Edit: Just saw the original post might have been for a bluetooth sub, my comment was for a wired setup. Looks like you need the soundbar for the wireless sub.

Thanks, it is a bluetooth sub. I do have the soundbars with the subs but had not heard anyone mention using that type of setup on a pin?

I've gone rick and morty on this title.....
That is, i have looked att all the clips on youtube, wiki it etc.

I'm sorry to say, i'm totally puzzled.
The music(?) Is really terrible. The main char is supercreepy, weird and a spitting image of the sleeze char in the warriors movie.
You know the "come out and play" char.

I was so confused, i even played some of their songs(?) At a get together and none cared for it.

Strange. The game looks nice though.

Anybody care to explain. Puzzled.

Some people can say even a well-regarded scotch sucks the first time they try it. But the ones that stick with it and keep trying it will discover layers and subtleties in a good scotch over time and come to love it.

They're not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because they have terrible music and a creepy lead singer. The layers are there for you to discover and appreciate, but you have to spend the time.

An open attitude and time are what you need, but there is no guarantee you will like their music in the end. But having it attached to a pinball machine sure helps. I was not a KISS fan *at all* when I got the KISS LE because it was beautiful and fun, but after a year or two, I liked all but two songs on it. And the machine is long gone now, and I'm still not a fan per se, but I still enjoy those songs I liked from the pin when they come on the radio or a stream.

I freely admit I would struggle to fully appreciate music in Swedish that was as complex as Rush, especially on the first listen. Rush will challenge the ears of anyone who expects music to have steady, predictable rhythms.

Some of their most accessible songs are in the game, so maybe one or two will begin to appeal to you after a short time, but very few people become Rush fans overnight.

Regardless of the language, Geddy's voice is unconventional. Some sounds are pretty unusual. The changes can be difficult to follow and appreciate at first. Rush's music rewards repeated listening in less crowded rooms. Once those folks emerge and join others, you get "Rush in Rio"!

It's likely some very thoughtful and eloquent fans have written at length about Rush in Swedish over the years, and I hope you check that out.

It's been obvious to me as a fan of both since the 1970s that Rush and pinball would be an intuitively successful combination, and the excitement around this release seems to show some folks agree. I hope you will give the game and the music some time - and that you really enjoy them both.

Can't think of a reason it won't work if the soundbar has the typical left and right RCA inputs. Just get the adapter I mentioned. BTW, you should only need to use one side (L or R, not both) of the adapter. Maybe get a RCA Y adapter at the soundbar input. There might be just a bit of sound lag but if it works OK for movies, should be fine for a pin. May not get much audio out of the soundbar itself, but I assume you're just mostly interested in the bass, right?

Which one do you plan on using (the Klipsch or Sony)? I'll see if I can look it up for you.

Edit: The Klipsch does have RCA inputs. They don't mention the level, but I would think it's fine. The Sony uses to what appears the typical small head phone jack (1/8", 3.5mm), so you would need a RCA to 3.5mm adapter.

That first sentence there reads as though you are giving reasons for why Rush is not in the hall of Fame, when in fact they are. I get what you are trying to say, though, and agree that they can be an acquired taste. But when you do acquire it, you truly appreciate the talent that is there.

I finished watching Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage on Netflix last night and highly recommend it.

What is a char, sleeze char, or “warriors movie”?

#2672 2 years ago

Sooo, I’m a bit embarrassed to ask this, but what is the blinking light/button in the center of the lock bar? Is it an IC notification thing?

#2673 2 years ago
Quoted from Craiger:

Sooo, I’m a bit embarrassed to ask this, but what is the blinking light/button in the center of the lock bar? Is it an IC notification thing?

Nope. It’s a feature button. All games use it different. Think of it as an action button. Can plunge the ball, make selections in menus, use it for power ups during the game.

#2674 2 years ago
Quoted from gandamack:

I am really excited to play this game. Big time fan.
With that said..... the person who designed the playfield art needs to be taken outside and flogged. Is the artist the same guy who designed the Pontiac Aztek? Or maybe the art department was short-staffed and they hired the guy who used to airbrush the Sizzler ride at the '81 Iowa State Fair? Why are Alex and Neil circa mid 70's while Geddy is mid 2000's with the chin goatee? I just find it incredible that the artwork could (and should) have been so cool. With Rush, there were so many options available.
As far as songs, we could argue all day about which songs should have made the list. As we know, the Rush sound changed throughout the years. I just thank god that the art department had zero say in which songs to put in the game. If that were the case, Tai Shan, would have been the featured song.

I wonder if this will be a project for Aurich like the Angus face on the original AC/DC Pros?

In high school - there were two kinds of people. Those who "got" RUSH, and those who didn't.

Don't worry about - just go spend some time on ACDC, GNR, MET, etc. Those bands are much more accessible and easier to digest.

Thanks for the info. I will probably wait and just get a Klipsch sub when the pin arrives. I will save the soundbar for something else.

There is no doubt I have a ton of new things to learn. Only Rush could do this!

Quoted from PinMonk:

This is true. Heard their top few songs on radio, owned a cassette back in the day, but didn’t dive deeper into catalog until the last few years.
Now I’m bummed I’ll never see a Rush show.

#2682 2 years ago
Quoted from Psw757:

A long press changes the direction of the diverter. If you’re playing a multi-ball for a song that is on an album you’ve collected, you are awarded an add-a-ball that can be triggered by pressing the button as well. I think it happened in the stream when Raymond had collected Snakes & Arrows and was playing Far Cry.

Moving Pictures was probably the album that hooked the most fans. Tom Sawyer is a very easy song to love immediately.

For those that are having trouble understanding the genius of Rush (and I'm sorry God took a lunch break and put someone else in charge when your ears were made ) but go to youtube, and just listen to isolated tracks of Geddy's bass or Neil's drums. Unbelievable stuff. Example A

#2687 2 years ago

Or isolated Ged in Zanadu (forward to 58 seconds)

I'm a drummer, yet I could just listen to just Ged's bass all freaking day.

Your feelings there are actually not uncommon. Rush did have many different phases they went thru, and depending on the listener some more popular than others. I have several later albums I’m not fond of either. I will say this to all you Terry Brown era Rush fans: listen to 2 of their later albums, Vapor Trails (look for the remixed version) and especially Clockwork Angels. I put Clockwork Angels up there with any of the Terry Brown era albums, and the song Headlong Flight is in my Top 5 ever for them.

Update on the Red Barchetta mod! I've completed a rough draft / prototype for one of two mounting options.

More details over in the Rush Toys/Mods thread -- https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/rush-mods-amp-toys-what-are-you-hoping-for-and-who-s-making-it#post-6704408 -- but the short summary is I wanted to incorporate the "one-lane bridge" from the song, since it's a key plot point in the climax of the story. I tried to envision what type of bridge might be in the countryside, so here's my rough draft/prototype, shown in my Game of Thrones Pro. In Rush, this version would go on the straight section of ramp on the right side.

I'm also working on another version -- a curved section of road -- that could mount in the top left corner over the curved ramp section up there. I expect these two options would satisfy most buyers so I'll probably stop there, lol.

Here's a pic and vid, more info in the other thread. PM me to get on the waitlist -- I currently have 30 cars but 21 are already reserved, only 9 left!
