I feel this way about most of the music pins that have been made, but also I long ago realized that for me, I don't really care if I don't know the band?
All that matters is the game, and if the game is great then it's really easy for me to take enjoyment in the music.
There is far more amazing music in the world than anyone can hear in their lifetime., and typically we find music we need wherever we are in life. But early on I learned that if you approach any music by "coming to it", as in approaching it from its own sense of time+place, aesthetics, groove, then any genres can be enjoyed. And I mean that as opposed to the usual method of discovering music, where you hear something that fits where YOU are aesthetically.
So with that in mind, when I approach these machines for bands I don't normally listen to, I'm coming for the excellent pinball, but can savour the aesthetics they offer, and "come in to" the music on its own terms. It's been really fun! It's like being invited to a party by some strangers and having a blast for a night.
I don't listen to AC/DC, Metallica, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Kiss, etc in my day-to-day life, but I can really appreciate all of the bands within the context of the pinball machines, and thoroughly enjoy the whole experience.
I'm in my 40s, so I imagine that some people younger than me might also have similar kinds of experiences, being initially disconnected from the music. I'll let the superfans argue about the art and particulars, but I am HYPED to try and play this amazing-looking table!
This resurgent golden age of pinball continues!
