Times like these I wish they would just reveal it all instead of just a teaser, lol.

That said, I'm curious what people are hoping for from the layout. I have TMNT and it's a blast to shoot when you're on and very punishing when you're not. I'd love something a little less demanding, but with Borg's penchant for a third flipper and flow. No need for a lower or upper playfield for me. Drops would be ideal, and maybe a shot through the pops like he's worked in on a couple other designs.

Let's hear your layout wishlist. What works best for the theme?

Quoted from PinJim:

….seems like rush was a niche band. But I can see it appealing to the lot of the pinball collector demographic.
I mean, if Iron Maiden got a pinball machine….in my mind rush stands in a caliber of music that’s so far above that.

Rush sold 40 million albums. Iron Maiden 100M. Metallica 120M. Rush was super niche outside of US.

Quoted from Anony:

+1 for hoping it's not a concert pin. I noticed a lot of people say that they didn't care for Iron Maiden music or didn't know it, but the pin itself was enough to get them past that.
If they slap this thing full of the band's face it's going to turn off an already skeptical crowd. The trailer was a good sign though using the owl instead of band members.

Whatever it is, I hope the superfans get what they want. That said, if the approach ends up being like Maiden instead of a traditional band/concert machines that would be okay with me and Rush's catalog could easily support a story driven theme. Other than BK: SOR, Maiden is the closest we've had to pinball-original themes since they got pushed out by heavy licenses where most of the story is already written.

The characters are recognizable to maiden fans but it's not like there's deep canon there. By design, Eddie is whatever he needs to be and everyone understands who The Beast is. Everyone loves an underdog standing up to an arrogant, larger-than-life antagonist and taking them down a notch. It's a classic pinball matchup with wide appeal used by BK/AFM/MM/Funhouse/Dr Dude and many more.

I love Iron Maiden… so don’t mistake this comment - but sales have nothing to do with ‘caliber’ of music.

These statistics are irrelevant when talking about a product that only needs to sell a few thousand to be a success. The diehard Rush fan is EXACTLY the pinball demographic.

I would like to know if members of Rush picked the songs and why.. Just curious

#709 2 years ago
Quoted from onemilemore:

Let's hear your layout wishlist. What works best for the theme?

Alex on the left, Geddy on the right, Neil in the middle, each connected to a shot. A washing machine somewhere on the PF that works as a ball lock, perhaps. 2112 drop targets. Maybe a Temple of Syrinx in a back corner. Good flow, not stop and start.

#710 2 years ago

I think the release should be delayed until the tube connected to another Rush pin is resolved.

I first became a fan when All The World's A Stage came out. I remember back then how hard it was even getting the album because none of the local record stores carried anything from Rush. I remember a girl once asked me what my favorite band was and when I said Rush, her reply was 'No, I meant real bands'. I remember getting tickets for the Farewell to Kings tour for $6.00 then getting snowed in and not seeing the show. I remember hearing Spirt Of The Radio being played on the radio and was stunned that suddenly Rush was getting airplay. Thinking back on all that, for a pinball machine to be created for the band is simply amazing.

#712 2 years ago

My sleeps will be fraught with dreams of Rush. Tossing and turning will be frequent as drools of joy hit my pillow. Canada is proud Rush.

So are you worried the game isn’t going to sell out?

#714 2 years ago

Anybody willing to take some guesses on what we will see on the game? I am guessing the central toy will be a time machine based on the teaser video. We will have to hit something to determine if we are travelling forward or backward in time when we get it in the time machine. Travelling in time will take us to a song which will be a mode. The songs start in 1974 and they could technically take us all the way to 2112 in the future (even though the album was from 1976) which could be a mini or final wizard mode. Just my guess. What is yours?

I agree.. Time Machine makes the most sense. I suspect your predictions are pretty close.

Rush's sales statistics place it third after The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band in the US.

US UK and Canada were their big markets for sure but it's clearly the middle age male demographic that will sell the machine out no problem.

#719 2 years ago

Mr Kool I see you are a year on pinside. How do we know you are not some sort of a marketing spy?

#720 2 years ago
Quoted from onemilemore:

I would love to see Neil's iconic Moving Pictures era Tama drumset take center stage, possibly elevated off the playfield with a scoop underneath and an internal diverter that alternately diverts the ball out through the front of each bass drum through two different wireforms. There needs to be drops in this game as well. Either a "Y,Y,Z" 3 bank or a "2,1,1,2" 4 bank.

I dunno. that's an awful lot of drop targets. I think that the playfield wouldn't have a lot of open shots with that many drop targets

#722 2 years ago

I got to talk to Both at Expo for a bit. He's a super cool cat and I'm glad he's the designer here.
1000% confident in his craftsmanship.
I mean, who doesn't like MET?

It is also irrelevant because they are from a country with 35 million people, not 350 million!

Any rumors on msrp bump yet?

#727 2 years ago

I heard $300-$400 increase.

#728 2 years ago

Anyone know if Alex played that ES-335 on "La Villa Strangiato" for the album, or was that just for the video?

#729 2 years ago

So probably $7300 pro

#730 2 years ago
Quoted from Gryszzz:

The bump will be $400 in April. New 2022 pricing though…same as Zilla

An owl bash toy?

#732 2 years ago

He must've played it live, cause I've seen multiple videos of him playing ES-335's on that track.
What a GD TONE to coax out of an F hole crikey

#733 2 years ago

Does anyone know if distributors have had their conference call with Stern on price, number of LE s and game design choices?

Zach needs to chime in on what the distributors know.

“A Farewell to Cash”

That’s awesome.

#738 2 years ago

I can’t wait for all the over-eagerness to turn to price angst posts

#739 2 years ago

Fuck, another $400 increase in April?! Fuuuuuck. This is nuts. Today I was thinking damn $6900 if I want a Rush. Now I'm thinking well it's better than $7300!

I paid for NIB:

Star Wars Pro $5650 March 2021

Mando Pro $6000 August 2021

Seems like smoking deals now!

Now I'm really starting to wonder about Lifeson's guitar collection and what he played on what tracks.

#743 2 years ago

My dream lineup.

Xanadu
Witch Hunt
Analog Kid
Subdivisions
Camera Eye
Big Money
The Body Electric
Distant Early Warning
Show Don't Tell
Dreamline
Time Stand Still
Marathon
New World Man

We all know it will be the usual radio tracks (Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio, Limelight, Closer to the Heart, etc..), but if Rush is involved, there will be at least 1 or 2 cool songs.

I have looked forward to this for a very long time.
Now, if only Gilmour and Waters would agree and play ball someday.

#744 2 years ago

I heard Lifeson is a drunk male prostitute.

Stern didn't even add that Diane Sawyer song to there huge 17 song setlist. Let's hope the playfield kicks ass

But ask yourself what you'd get for them if you sold them today. Not a bad deal when you consider you enjoyed them for all this time and would either: a) make money on them; b) break even; or c) only lose a nominal amount of money on each.
