I wonder how this will ever get fixed. If the issue is caused by intermittent power loss to the board because of either bad connectors/pins or zip tied wiring that causes fraying, not much stern can really do. Seems like it will be up to each owner to inspect their connectors and wiring and fix on their own. Stern can send out new boards, but the board itself isn’t the issue unless they can figure out a way to manufacture boards that won’t blow if there is power loss. That still doesn’t fix the underlying issue of power loss. Hopefully new batches of games will resolve the issue.

Quoted from Animal:

So. If it is the cables running to the clock and ramp, wouldn't running new wiring from them to a new replacement board fix the issue since the damage appears to be related to these devices?

I think so, but how many people are capable of doing that? Maybe stern will have to cover the cost of a service visit.

Sending out node boards doesn’t seem like a good idea. We’ve already seen a few posts where the board has blown a second time.

Quoted from ChrisHibler:

Is Stern indicating that the root cause for this issue is frayed or abraded wiring?
That seems like a stretch to me.

I don't think they've said anything other than the warning sticker saying not to unplug anything with power going to the board.. the cause is not a frayed wired, but loss of.power. if s wire frays and causes power to drop, blown board.

Quoted from pinballplusMN:

So is it correct to assume if a node driven motor has a loose or intermittent connection it can destroy the node board?
Going forward maybe wires should be soldered or better connectors used?
What about older spike games with motors?
The way these ics flame out makes repairs difficult.

We don’t know for sure, but that appears to be the situation in this case. I don’t think it’s been an issue for other games, but not really sure on that. If that is the case, more slack in the wires and looser zip ties would likely resolve it. In general, you should not unplug or plug anything in with the power on.

Quoted from MJK-911:

Stern has a blind person pulling parts , or the said person is stealing parts before putting said parts in a box to be mailed to said Customer/Me !!!! Now I have more emails back/forth trying to explain the Node-10 Board wasn’t in the box when I opened it last week.Stern sends this sheet saying Iam wrong. Nice more BS to deal with. Moving forward Everyone make a Video of you opening any parts box from Stern Pinball. I trust Nobody in this Hobby anymore, I bet with the rising cost of this Node Board $700.00 , theft is happening at Stern Pinball!!! Sure he forgot to put it in the box. I also see $22,000 Bond -60th being delivered missing shaker motors!! Nothing worst than Theft . Burns my Ass!!!!

There’s some bad shit going on with the mail. Two people in my neighborhood had an Apple Watch and iPhone delivered by fedex. Outside box was sealed, but the apple boxes inside were empty.
