well heres the thing...
movers like this just make you sign some piece of paper that if you dont read basically makes them liable for next to nothing.
while they obviously fucked up and or were negligent odds are you dont have recourse.
I had a bunch of stuff damaged moving from NY to California and wasnt much I could do in the end.
Quoted from vid1900:Were they just friends of yours, or an actual, insured moving company?
define insured? .. that doesnt matter.
In this case unless you paid or opted for additional insurance or protection you are agreeing to whatever minimums they have in place.
Works like trucking etc. which is by the pound so probably 5 cents a pound for damage.
Fun fact... if an airline loses your luggage and all your clothes thats how they pay you also.
Quoted from ForceFlow:https://www.mymovingreviews.com/move/file-complaint-against-movers/
Looks like there's a few other steps you may be able to take.
most of these companies are on social media so I would basically say make this right or I will trash you online.
people do read reviews for moving companies etc
Quoted from m00nmuppet:Yup. Make them WISH they had settled for $14k. What a sleaze response on their part.
Waste of money... whats a lawyer going to do?
You have to read whatever paperwork you signed and I doubt there is anything there the lawyer can work with.
Im going to guess it was loaded in with legs on (cause removing them is hard) and not strapped and just went flying.
Maybe one guy that had a few Budweisers at lunch in the back to "hold it still when we hit a turn" hillbilly style.
Quoted from chooch:The legs were not on the machine when transported. You can clearly see that here when leaving the house. If the legs were on it would be sitting much higher in the bed of the truck.

Damn... well there goes my theory of dumbest movers ever.
Now they are only in the top ten.
I still think beers were involved.
Quoted from trilogybeer:True, but more importantly is that is not a moving truck ( of a reputable company)and that game is not being transported properly.
?? its wrapped in a blanket. 100% safe and proper.
I dunno what to tell the guy other than sorry you hired morons.
I moved a game from 15 hours away when I was new to the hobby in the back of a pickup and even I had the minimal brainpower to strap it down.
Best case it will slide around if you dont strap it... worst case? See pics. Lucky they didnt kill anyone behind them when it went for its ride.
Quoted from albummydavis:Interstate moving is a whole different animal and the federal rules regulating it are a lose-lose situation for the consumer. Moving companies can extort you and threaten to impound your belongings unless you pay up. Then you’re also on the hook for storage and a second delivery. It’s horrific.
5 Miles—and local? Take them to court. You may even be able to got to small claims. With your photos, it may be open and shut.
Not to be a debbie downer here but I would assume he had to sign something to limit their liability like most movers.
Usually when they walk in they have you sign paperwork (that no one reads but its there to fuck you over in event of damage) before they do anything.
If he did sign that, all the movers need to do is show that in court and walk away.
If he didnt sign anything then sure... do what you gotta do.
