Hoping someone can suggest a potential cause before I pull the boards out.
The coil that kicks the ball to the upper playifled in Royal Rumble is not firing. Here is where I am at so far:
There is good voltage to the coil.
Coil ohms out the same as others of the same type in the game.
If I ground the coil to the cabinet ground braid it will fire.
There is continuity between the non power side of the coil to the PPB connector. I did not check the power side as voltage was good on both lugs but can check if it seems needed.
If I ground the tab of the drive transistor (Q42) the coil does NOT fire. Does this indicate a wiring problem? However, I don't get any continuity between the tab of that transistor and the ground braid so that initially tests ok.
I am wondering if I have a problem with the TIP 36C on the PPB or the drive or predrive transistor on the mpu. Just wanted to see if I am on the right track here or missing anything else I should check first. Thanks!
